I will tell you how to store cooking spices for optimal performance. First, it is important to understand the science behind how foodstuffs are stored.
Keep spices out of direct sunlight as light will reduce their flavor. This is due to oxygen combining with organic compounds, such as spices.
To prevent oxidation, spices should be stored in dark cupboards. Spices lose their flavor quickly if these conditions don't exist.
You can preserve the flavor of spices by keeping them in sealed jars, away from direct sunlight.
You can add herbs and spices to water to make a flavoured drink. To make a cinnamon-flavored drink, combine two teaspoons of ground ginger with half a cup of warm water. Stir and mix well. Add a squeeze or lemon juice to the mixture and serve immediately.
Dried herbs can be added to soups stews, casseroles pasta dishes rice dishes salads and desserts. Simply sprinkle the spice mixture evenly over the dish and sit for 5-10 minutes before serving.
