Ginger is native to China, Japan, and Korea, and its origins date back more than 5,000 years. It is believed it originated in Southeast Asia. There, it was used for medicinal purposes.

Ginger is well-known for its ability to relieve nausea and stimulate digestion. It may even help prevent migraines. Ginger can also be used to treat arthritis, muscle spasms, joint pains, or relieve them.

Ginger is often eaten fresh in Thailand. It is sliced into thin strips and then dried before being stored for later use. You can buy ginger root in jars or cans from Asian markets.


What's the difference between cooking whole and with ground spices? Ground Spices?

There are no significant differences in the cooking of whole and ground spices. After harvesting, spices are ground. There is no quality difference.

However, this price differential is quite significant. Whole spices are more expensive because of the labor required to process them. But the flavour is worth it.

If you purchase whole spices in bulk, you might get an additional discount. For example, you might receive a discount if you buy an entire bag of cinnamon sticks.

The same goes for nutmeg, cloves, ginger, cardamom, etc. You may be able save money if you buy these spices in bulk.

Ground spices last much longer than whole spices. Ground spices quickly lose their potency due to oxidation.

However, the main reason we recommend whole spices is because they add character to recipes.

A delicious curry can be made with whole turmeric as opposed to ground turmeric. Or you can grind whole coriander seeds to create a spice blend for chicken dishes.

Also, grinding spices takes time. A large amount of whole spices is a good idea. This will ensure that you don't run out of spices quickly.
