Frequently Asked Questions

What is the importance and purpose of spices?

A spice is an ingredient that adds flavor to food. Spices come in various forms, such as powders, liquids, gums, oils, pastes, and seeds. They are also known as condiments and flavours.

You can spice up meals to make them more interesting. For extra flavor and excitement, you can add many spices to your dishes.

Perhaps a little hot pepper sauce will enhance the flavor of your soup. A cup of cooked rice could be made more delicious by adding a few cayenne to the soup.

The best way to experiment with spicing recipes is to use fresh ingredients. Organic herbs are better than dried herbs. Fresh herbs last longer than dried.

There are certain spices that are essential for cooking. But there are also some you might want to avoid. Cinnamon sticks are high in coumarin so you should avoid them if your liver has been affected. Although ginger also contains coumarin it is much less concentrated. It's safe for those without any history of liver problems.

Does Thai use ginger?

Yes. Ginger is used extensively in traditional Thai cooking. It is commonly added to stir-fries or soups. Ginger is also used in desserts such as lassis.

Ginger is an indigenous plant of China, Japan and Korea. Its roots date back more that 5,000 years. It is believed to have originated in Southeast Asia, where it was cultivated for medicinal purposes.

Ginger has been shown to reduce nausea and stimulate digestion. It may even help prevent migraines. Ginger can also be used to treat arthritis, muscle spasms, joint pains, or relieve them.

In Thailand, ginger is most often used fresh. It is sliced into thin strips and then dried before being stored for later use. In Asian markets, you can purchase ginger root in cans or in jars.

What is the most famous ingredient in Thai cooking?

In Thailand, two main ingredients make up the heart of all dishes: rice and curry. These two ingredients combine to produce a unique flavor.

Combining these two basic foods into one dish is known as "Khaopad Krai" in Thailand.

The same goes for life. You can achieve great success if you combine the right two ingredients - hard work and perseverance.

As Khao Pad Krai did, passion and purpose can be combined to make you successful. Combine them and you will create something truly extraordinary.

When you are craving Thai food, don't forget to add rice and curry! Try out other ingredients and have fun!

How To

How can I store my cooking spices?

How to store cooking spices in a way that maximizes their performance. First of all, we need to establish an understanding of the science behind the storage of foodstuffs.

Because spices lose their flavour when exposed to the sun, they are best kept out of reach from light. This is due oxygen reacting with organic compounds such that spices, causing oxidation.

Spices should be kept in the dark cupboards and sealed tightly in airtight containers to prevent oxidation. These conditions can cause spices to quickly lose their flavor.

Keep spices in airtight containers away from direct sun to preserve their flavour.

For a flavoured beverage, add herbs and spices. Mix two teaspoons of ground cinnamon and 1/2 cup warm water. Stir well. Serve immediately with a squeeze of lemon.

Dried herbs and spices can be added to soups and stews, casseroles and rice dishes. Sprinkle the spice mixture evenly on the dish, and let it sit for five to ten minutes before you serve.

If you have leftover cooked vegetables, fruit, meats, poultry, fish, shellfish, eggs, cheese, bread, crackers, cookies, cakes, pies, or puddings, they can be added to your favourite recipes as snacks.

If you want to take advantage of the flavours of fresh herbs and spices, chop or tear them up and add them to foods while they're still hot. It is also possible to freeze herbs and spices in muffin cups or ice cube trays. Once frozen transfer to zip-top plastic bags or freezer bags.
