Frequently Asked Questions

Which ten spices are most in demand?

Spices can be used in food and drink flavoring. Some spices are more well-known than others. There are hundreds more varieties of spices. Let's take a look at the top ten most loved spices and see why they are so popular.

Spices are vital in cooking as they add flavor and aroma without adding calories. Many spices also contain essential vitamins and minerals, which help keep our bodies healthy.

Here are the top ten most-loved spices.

  1. Cinnamon – This spice has been shown to lower cholesterol and improve digestion. It prevents the flu and colds.
  2. Garlic – This spice aids in fighting infections and boosts immunity. It is also good for digestion and lowers blood sugar.
  3. Oregano-This spice can boost energy and increase athletic performance. It can also help with memory problems and fight infection.
  4. Black Pepper -This spice is full of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties. It also helps reduce stress and heart disease.
  5. Basil -Basil contains vitamin K, calcium, and iron. It helps to fight cancer cells and improves metabolism.
  6. Vinegar and Salt - These two ingredients create a delicious mixture. Both vinegar as well as salt are highly effective against viruses.
  7. Cloves: Clove oil is an all-natural remedy for sore gums and toothaches. It is also great for muscle spasms, cramps, and other issues.
  8. Ginger – Ginger has been shown during pregnancy to alleviate nausea and morning sickiness. It can also clear your sinuses.
  9. Curry Powder - Curries have been around since ancient times. They were initially made with coconut milk, but we now use different oils or ghee bases.

What Thai spice will I need to make Thai food home?

You will need to know five key spices in order to make authentic Thai food at your home: cayenne pepper, coriander seeds and turmeric. Each of these ingredients has its distinct flavour profile and plays a vital role in creating delicious dishes.

Black pepper enhances the savoury flavors of curry powder, while cinnamon gives it sweetness. Coriander seeds add a spicy kick, while turmeric gives curry powder its signature yellow colour. Cayenne peppers bring the heat while cilantro adds freshness. A final ingredient is cinnamon, which adds depth and complexity.

These spices are available at most grocery stores. However, if you prefer to order them online, we have recommendations.

What's the Difference Between Cooking With Whole vs. Ground Spices?

There is no difference in cooking with whole spices and cooked with ground spices. All spices can be ground once they have been harvested. So there is no difference in quality.

However, this price differential is quite significant. Because of the labor involved in making whole spices, they cost more. However, the flavor is worth it.

If you purchase whole spices in bulk, you might get an additional discount. If you buy a whole bag of cinnamon sticks, you may get a discount.

This is true for cloves, ginger and cardamom. You may be able save money if you buy these spices in bulk.

Whole spices also last longer than ground spices. Ground spices lose their potency very quickly due to oxidation.

However, the main reason we recommend whole spices is because they add character to recipes.

You can make a delicious curry by using whole turmeric in place of ground turmeric. Or you can grind whole coriander seeds to create a spice blend for chicken dishes.

Grinding spices takes time. It makes sense to purchase large quantities of whole spices when you are buying them. So that you don’t run out of spices, it’s a smart move.

Is garlic used in Thai cooking?

Garlic is an ingredient used in Thai cuisine. Garlic is commonly added to salads.

In Thailand, garlic is chopped and fried with shallots, ginger, and spices. In addition, it is commonly eaten with sticky rice.

Chilli paste, salt and lime juice are the most popular ways to eat garlic. This mixture is known as Nam Phrik (namphrik). Nam phrik can be served with grilled chicken and beef.

How To

How to Cut Shiitake Mushrooms

So the shiitakes have been doing well. There's nothing wrong about them. But how do we cut them without cutting ourselves? We've tried everything. Even the scissors. But they just keep slipping from our hands. What is the deal?

There's a trick to that. You must put a rubber band around the mushroom's stem and twist it tight. By doing this, you won’t slip and get cut.

You might think that it seems too simple. It is. However, it is also very efficient.

The rubber band makes it slippery so that it feels natural when you pick up the stem. You can also hold the stem tight.

You can now try it. You will be amazed at the ease with which you can now cut mushrooms.
