Whatever method you choose to use, you will find that powders are much easier than whole spices. You won't run short of powder, and it keeps well.

You can also experiment with different spices to create new flavor combinations. For minty water you could mix spearmint with peppermint leaves. For spicy ginger tea, use ginger and cardamom capsules.

Once you've mastered making powdered spices, you can apply the same technique to herbs. Basil, rosemary, thyme and sage are some of the most popular herbs.

How to Store Spices

Keep them in an airtight container away from light and heat.

For longer storage, store spices in a dark cabinet. This will ensure that they stay fresh and prevent any possible oxidation.

Keep spices dry and away from sunlight in a cool, dry place. The spice may lose flavour and aroma if placed near a window or heater.

Spices need to be kept in an airtight glass container or tin. You should ensure that the containers are not moistened if you store them in plastic containers.

After opening the seal, make sure to inspect it again. Humidity can cause spoilage.

You don't have to throw out leftover spices. Make sure to use leftover spices in other recipes. To extend their shelf life, you can freeze them.


Almond Flour vs. Almond Meal: What's the Difference?

A almond meal is a versatile almond flour alternative that can be used to bake, cook, or even make nut-free dishes.

Almond flour may also contain gluten, making it difficult to digest. Gluten-free foods should be avoided if you have celiac Disease or any other digestive condition.

Almond flour may not be considered a "superfood", per se, but it contains healthy fats as well as fibre, protein and vitamin E.

Almond flour, made from almonds contains monounsaturated and polyunsaturated oil. Both types lower LDL (bad cholesterol) and increase HDL(good cholesterol).

Almond flour is also rich in antioxidants such as flavonoids and phenolics. These compounds prevent free radical-induced oxidative stress.

The Journal of Agricultural Food Chemistry published a study that found almond flour to have the same antioxidant activity as blueberries, cranberries and pomegranates.

Almond flour is usually sold alongside almond milk, fortified with additional nutrients.
