European spice mixes are an excellent way to add flavor to your chicken dishes. Whether you’re making a traditional Italian recipe or a Tex-Mex dish, there’s an option that will fit your taste.
The most popular spice mix for grilling European-style chicken is paprika, chili peppers, turmeric, coriander, garlic, mustard seeds, fennel, allspice, bay leaf, marjoram, parsley and salt. It gives the meat a pleasant spicy aroma and an appetizing color.
Quatre Epices
Quatre Epices is a popular European spice mix made from pepper, cloves, nutmeg and ginger. It’s used in a variety of recipes and is particularly common in French cooking.
This blend is said to have originated in the port city of Saint-Malo, Brittany in the 17th century. This was a time of great change and extravagance in Europe, and many foods were influenced by Middle Eastern and Asian cuisines.
The classic version of this spice blend includes a base of pepper, with nutmeg, cloves and cinnamon added. Some cooks prefer to use allspice instead of pepper, while others opt to swap out the cinnamon for ginger.
This mix is commonly used in stews, ragouts, pates, sausages and meat dishes. It’s also an important seasoning for vegetables like carrots and sweet potatoes.
Paprika
Paprika is a popular European spice mix used for a variety of chicken dishes. It has a sweet pepper flavor that adds a little pop of color to foods that need a little help standing out from the crowd.
It can also be used to make a paprika-infused oil that’s delicious on vegetables, fish, and more. Just be sure to cook the paprika in just a tiny bit of oil before adding it to your dish.
Paprika is made from dried, ground peppers that are low in capsaicin, which imparts heat and pungency to foods. It is a popular condiment for meat and sausage products, and it can be found in grocery stores as well as in spice racks across Europe and beyond.
Za’atar
Za’atar is a popular European spice mix that is commonly made with dried oregano, thyme, sumac and sesame seeds. Its flavor is rich and tangy, with a hint of citrus.
It can be used to marinate chicken, or sprinkled on grilled vegetables, sweet-savory pastries, and flatbreads, among other dishes. Its nutty, earthy taste is versatile and easy to incorporate into many recipes.
Another great use for za’atar is as a dipping sauce for bread or avocado toast. It also makes a nice addition to popcorn or any other snacks that call for a light coating of seasoning.
You can buy za’atar in most large supermarkets and most middle eastern grocery stores or order it online. It’s available in a wide variety of flavors and blends, but each one is a little different so you may want to try a few before you decide which is your favorite.
Oktoberfest Bavarian
The Oktoberfest in Munich is one of the most famous and largest festivals in the world. It is celebrated from the last Saturday in September to the first Sunday in October and is a feast of beer, food and celebration.
The most popular dish served at Oktoberfest is Brathendl, which is a spit-roasted chicken that's crispy on the outside and tender inside. It's usually accompanied by rustic potato or flour dumplings and sausages with sauerkraut.
Another very common side dish is Rotkohl, a red cabbage that's braised and fermented with salt. It's a refreshing, flavourful accompaniment to roasted meats and can be made at home by clicking here!
As well as the main dishes, typical desserts and lots of beer, Bavarian cuisine also includes snacks like pretzels. They're often accompanied by sausages, such as Weisswurst, and sauerkraut.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between curry and curried?
There is no difference in spelling. Both words refer to the same thing: an Indian dish combining meat or vegetables with various seasonings.
Curry is derived in Hindi from kari, which means to rub. This refers the way that the spice mix is applied onto the food. Curry foods are usually cooked until golden brown.
While curried dishes were once reserved only for special occasions they are now enjoyed regularly throughout India. These dishes can be chicken, beef (lamb), fish, or vegetables.
Plain white rice is commonly served with curried meals. You can also add raita (a yogurt sauce), or chutney (a sweet relish).
What are the ten best-loved spices?
Spices are used to flavour foods and drinks. Some spices are more well-known than others. There are hundreds upon hundreds of spices. Let's now take a look at some of the most well-known spices to find out why they are so beloved.

Can you add spice into a drink
I love spices adding flavour to food. How do you make spices alive in drinks?
Spices add a wonderful depth to any beverage. From coffee to tea, hot chocolate to cocktails, there's nothing more satisfying than adding a dash of cinnamon or nutmeg to a glass of wine or beer.
However, most recipes call for ground spice so you will need fresh whole spices. It makes sense but is time-consuming and expensive.
Here's where the magic happens. It's possible to transform your favorite spices into a powdered form that is easy to use with a bit of creativity. You can then mix the spices into your favorite beverages to make delicious spiced drinks.
These powders can be made in two ways. One way is to grind whole spices into fine powder. A mortar and pestle is another method to grind the spices to a finer consistency.
No matter which method you use, the powder will be much easier to measure and store than whole spices. You won't run short of powder, and it keeps well.
You can also experiment with different spices to create new flavor combinations. For minty water you could mix spearmint with peppermint leaves. You can also make spicy ginger-ginger tea by combining ginger and cardamom seeds.
Once you are skilled in the production of powdered spices, it is possible to apply that technique to herbs. Some of the most common herbs are basil, rosemary, thyme, oregano and sage.
The possibilities are limitless. Powdered spices can be used to add flavour to beverages or enhance the flavor of dishes like soups, salads and pasta.

How To
Are you a master of making curry paste?
Curry paste includes dried chillies (scallions, shallots), galangal root and lemongrass as well as kaffir lime leaves, garlic, shrimp pastes, sugar, salt and sometimes coconut milk. It is used extensively in Thai cuisine.
One of the most widely used condiments in Southeast Asia is curry paste. Curry paste can add a distinct flavour to many dishes like curries.
It's easy to make at-home! Follow the steps below to make it easy!
Step1 - Prepare Ingredients
- Before you start making this recipe, prepare all ingredients.
- To begin, you will need to peel and chop shallots (about 2 cups). Next, cut galangal root into small chunks (about 3 inches) and put aside.
- Next, peel and slice garlic cloves (about four cloves). The lemongrass stems should be roughly 1/2 inch thick.
- After that, you will need to crush dried red chili peppers (about four tablespoons) before removing the seeds (optional).
- Next, cut the kaffir-lime leaves into thin strips (5 inches). The white part of your stem should be removed and put aside.
- After draining the shrimp paste, wash it well and then coarsely smash it.
- Measure out the sugar and salt.
Step2 - Grind Ingredients
- Mix all ingredients until well combined.
- The texture should look similar to peanut-butter.
- Not to worry if the dish contains too much oil, you can use water to replace it.
Step3 - Add Coconut Milk
- Add coconut milk to the mixture and mix well.
- Slowly add coconut milk to ensure that the paste doesn't become too sticky.
- You can reduce the amount of chillies and increase the quantity of galangal root if you prefer it less spicy.
- For a more spicy taste, increase the amount of chillies and reduce the use of galangal root. The end result should be delicious.
Step4 - Serve
- Top your favorite foods with this topping.
- Enjoy!
