Frequently Asked Questions

Almond Meal vs. Almond Flour: What's the Difference?

An almond meal, which can be used as an almond flour substitute, is more versatile than other almond flours because it can be used for baking and cooking, as well as making nut free dishes.

Almond flour may also contain gluten, making it difficult to digest. It's important to avoid gluten-free diets if your condition is celiac.

Almond flour may not be considered a "superfood", per se, but it contains healthy fats as well as fibre, protein and vitamin E.

The almond meal offers many nutritional benefits including iron, magnesium, zinc, manganese (thiamin), calcium, vitamin A, B1 and Vitamin C.

Almond flour is made of almonds. Almond oil is made from polyunsaturated, monounsaturated, fatty oils. Both can lower LDL cholesterol and increase HDL cholesterol.

In addition, almond flour is rich in antioxidants, including flavonoids, phenolics, and proanthocyanidins. These compounds are effective in preventing oxidative damages caused by free radicals.

The Journal of Agricultural Food Chemistry published a study that found almond flour to have the same antioxidant activity as blueberries, cranberries and pomegranates.

Almond milk is often sold with almond flour, which has been fortified with additional nutrients.

What is Thai spice used for?

It's a term we all have heard, even though we don't know what it actually means. But when we discover our mouths water, we wonder why we haven't been eating more of it.

It isn't just any spice. It's an ingredient that can add flavor and depth in dishes that otherwise would be bland.

There are thousands of Thai recipes, but very few include the authentic flavor. Let's learn how to include these delicious flavors in your meals.

Thais have been using spices and herbs to flavor food and drinks since ancient times. Thai derives its name from the Sanskrit phrase "to cook".

Thais are still fond of spicy foods. This preference is often due to the heat in Thailand which makes it difficult for people to stay warm without hot drinks. Thais also consume more chili peppers that Americans or Europeans.

The best way to learn about Thai spices is to visit a local Asian grocery store. You'll find many ingredients there, including fresh basil leaves, dried chilies and curry paste.

You may also come across whole peppercorns, cloves, cinnamon sticks, star anise, cardamom pods, ginger root, turmeric powder, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, fennel seeds, nutmeg, mace, mustard seed, saffron threads, garlic, onion, rice vinegar and tamarind juice.

Thai cuisine has two kinds of spices: wet and dry. Dry spices are generally ground, while wet spices can be crushed or pounded finely.

Dry spices can be added to any dish. Ground red pepper can be sprinkled on chicken soup, for example. To make a paste, wet spices are often mixed with butter or oil.

Wet spices are commonly used in marinades and sauces. Common wet spices include oyster sauce, fish sauce and sesame oils, curry paste, hoisin sauce, and sesame seed oil.

Thai cuisine can be made at home by learning which spices work well with specific ingredients.

Red pepper flakes are recommended for beef. If you use seafood like shrimp, you should use white pepper instead.

If you don't live near an Asian market, you can order online. This market has everything you need, including dried chilies as well as exotic herbs and spices.

This Thai recipe will give you a kick next time your stomach gets rumbling.

What's the importance of spices in your life?

A spice is a seasoning used to enhance flavour in food. Spices come in various forms, such as powders, liquids, gums, oils, pastes, and seeds. They are also called condiments and flavours.

Spicing up dishes is a great way to add variety to meals. For extra flavor and excitement, you can add many spices to your dishes.

Hot pepper sauce may make soup taste better. You could also add a few cayenne peppers to a cup of rice.

Fresh ingredients are the best option to spice up your recipes. When you are buying dried herbs, make sure they are organic. Fresh herbs last longer than dried.

Although some spices are essential to cooking, there are others that you might prefer not to use. If you have a history liver disease, cinnamon sticks should be avoided. Ginger also contains high amounts of coumarin. However, it is much more concentrated. People who do not have any liver problems are safe.

How To

How do you make a garlic press?

A garlic press is a valuable tool in every home cook's kitchen. It makes it easy to mince garlic into a paste, puree it into soups or salad dressings, or even make a sauce. It is also useful for crushing whole cloves of garlic into buttery spreads and garlic salt.

If you don't yet have a garlic presse, you may be wondering where to get one. Here are some tips that will help you get started.

First of all, you'll need to get a large bowl. Place the bowl beneath the press, and then pour the crushed garlic in it. Now, turn the pressure regulator to maximum.

Next, move the handle clockwise so that you hear a click. The top of the press should lift up and expose a flat surface. This will allow you slide the blade back-and-forth over the bowl. Keep turning the handle clockwise until you reach the end of the blades.

Finally, take the pressed garlic out and enjoy!

Here are some other ways to use this versatile tool:

  • Garlic mince can be added to soups or sauces, salads or dips.
  • To crush whole garlic cloves, use the press to create a buttery spread
  • Place whole garlic cloves in a pizza dough and crush them before baking
  • Make roasted garlic mashed potatoes, or creamy polenta.
  • The press can be used to make pesto from garlic
  • Blend the garlic into a smooth vinegar dressing
