Frequently Asked Questions
What Spices or Herbs Go Best With Potatoes?
Potatoes are a wonderful side dish to almost any meat. You may be familiar with the many ways you can serve potatoes other than mashed.
These versatile veggies can be used as a side dish in many dishes. Not only are potatoes great with spices, but so are many herbs and other seasonings.
These recipes will help you spice up your next potato dish.
Almond Meal vs. Almond Flour: What's the Difference?
Almond meal can be substituted for almond flour and is versatile enough to be used in baking, cooking and even making nut-free meals.
Almond flour may also contain gluten, making it difficult to digest. If you have celiac disease or another digestive disorder, it's essential to avoid gluten-free foods.
Almond flour isn't considered "superfood", but it is high in healthy fats, fibres, protein, vitamin E, and sodium.
The almond meal provides nutritional benefits such as magnesium, iron, zinc and manganese. It also contains vitamin A, B1 (thiamin), C, and folate.
Almond flour is made from almonds and contains monounsaturated fat acids. Almond oil, however, contains polyunsaturated oils. Both help to lower LDL (bad), and increase HDL levels.
In addition, almond flour is rich in antioxidants, including flavonoids, phenolics, and proanthocyanidins. These compounds prevent free radical-induced oxidative stress.
A study published in the Journal of Agricultural Food Chemistry found that almond flour had antioxidant activity equivalent to that of blueberries, cranberries, pomegranates, and red wine grape juice.
Almond flour is commonly sold together with almondmilk, which has additional nutrients.
What is the most popular ingredient in Thai cooking?
Two main ingredients are the heart of Thai cuisine: curry and rice. This combination creates an unforgettable taste.
Thais call this combination "Khao pad Krai," which translates to "the best dish." This is because the two basic foods can be combined to create something truly delicious and irresistible.
The same is true of your personal life. If you combine hard work with perseverance, you can achieve great success.
Combining passion and purpose, as Khao Pad Krai has shown, can help you succeed. Combine them and you will create something truly extraordinary.
You should remember that Thai food requires more than curry and rice to create memorable meals. Try experimenting with other ingredients and see how much fun it can be!
What spices are commonly used in Thai cuisine?
Thai cuisine is famous for its complex flavor profiles. These flavours come from unique and flavorful spices that create various delicious dishes.
Common ingredients for Thai cooking are galangal, lemongrass, kaffirlim leaves, chillies and garlic.
Each spice adds to Thai cuisine's distinct flavour profile. You will often find lemongrass in soups, curries and stews. Galangal gives dishes a peppery flavor; chilies add a spicy kick to dishes. Shrimp paste adds umami depth to dishes. Coriander adds a mild yet fragrant aroma to dishes. Cumin adds a smokey flavour to dishes. Turmeric gives dishes a bright yellow hue.
These spices are combined to create complex flavour profiles specific to Thai cuisine. By using a combination of spices, chefs can create dishes that are both flavorful and aromatic. You can bring Thai flavors to your kitchen by stocking up on these spices.
How to Store Your Spices?
Keep them in an airtight container away from light and heat.
For longer storage, store spices in a dark cabinet. This will ensure that they stay fresh and prevent any possible oxidation.
Keep your spices out of direct sunlight and in a cool dry place. A heater or window can cause the spice to lose its aroma and flavour.
Spices work best in an airtight jar or tin. Avoid storing spices in plastic containers.
It is vital to always check the seal after opening, resealing and before storing.
Do not throw away any spices that you have left over. Instead, use them up by adding them to other dishes. They can be frozen to prolong their shelf-life.
Is Thai cuisine made with garlic?
Garlic is an ingredient used in Thai cuisine. Garlic is often used to make Thai dishes, including salads and soups, stir-fries and curries, as well as sauces and sauces.
Garlic is often fried in Thailand with ginger, shallots, and other spices. It is also often eaten with sticky rice.
The most common way to eat garlic is to chop it finely and mix it with chilli paste, salt, fish sauce, lime juice, and oil. This is "Nam Phrik" or "namphrik". Nam phrik can be served with grilled chicken and beef.

Curry paste is one of the most popular condiments in Southeast Asia. It adds a unique flavour to many dishes, such as curries, soups, stir-fries, salads, rice dishes, noodles, and desserts.
It's not difficult to make at home! Follow our step by step guide below.
Step1 - Prepare Ingredients
- You need to prepare all ingredients before starting this recipe.
- Peel and chop shallots (about two cups). Then chop galangal root into small pieces (about 3 inches long) and set aside.
- Next, you will need to peel and slice the garlic cloves (about 4 cloves). Lemongrass stems about 1/2 inch thick should be removed and finely chopped.
- Crush the red chilli peppers with about four tablespoons of water and remove the seeds.
- Next, trim the kaffir lime leaves into strips about 5 inches in length. Next, remove the white part from the stem and leave it alone.
- After that, wash and drain shrimp paste (about 6 ounces), then coarsely mash it.
- Last, take out the salt and sugar.
Step2 - Grind Ingredients
- Blend all ingredients until smooth
- The texture should be similar to that of peanut butter.
- If you would like to reduce the amount oil in your dish, you could substitute water for some of it.
Step3 - Add Coconut Milk
- Mix the coconut milk into the mixture.
- Add coconut milk slowly so that the paste does not become too sticky.
- For a milder taste, use less chillies and more galangal roots.
- For a more spicy taste, increase the amount of chillies and reduce the use of galangal root. The final product should be tasty to you.
Step4 - Serve
- Serve on top of your favourite foods.
- Enjoy!
