I love how spices bring flavour to food. How can you make spices come to life when they are used in drinks?

What are the most delicious Thai spices?

Thais have been cooking with herbs, spices and other flavors since ancient times. Thai, which means "to make", comes from the Sanskrit word.

Today, Thais still love spicy food. This preference is often due to the heat in Thailand which makes it difficult for people to stay warm without hot drinks. Additionally, Thais consume much more chili peppers than Europeans or Americans.

A local Asian grocery store is the best place to learn more about Thai spice. There, you'll find a wide variety of ingredients, including dried chilies, fresh basil leaves, curry paste, and even ground black pepper.

You may also come across whole peppercorns, cloves, cinnamon sticks, star anise, cardamom pods, ginger root, turmeric powder, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, fennel seeds, nutmeg, mace, mustard seed, saffron threads, garlic, onion, rice vinegar and tamarind juice.

Thai cuisine has two kinds of spices: wet and dry. Dry spices are generally ground, while wet spices can be crushed or pounded finely.

Dry spices can be added to any dish. For example, you can sprinkle ground red pepper onto your chicken soup. Mixing wet spices with oil or butter can create a paste.

Wet spices are commonly used in marinades and sauces. Wet spices are used in many dishes, including fish sauce, oyster, sesame, sesame, sesame oil and curry paste.

How do you make a garlic press?

First, you need a large dish. Place the bowl below the press and pour in the crushed garlic. Set the pressure regulator valve at the maximum setting.

Next, move the handle clockwise so that you hear a click. The top portion of the press should come off, revealing a flat surface. You can slide the blade across the bowl. Continue turning the handle counterclockwise until the blades close.

Finally, take the pressed garlic out and enjoy!

Here are some other ways to use this versatile tool:

  • You can add minced garlic to soups and sauces, salads, dips, or as a seasoning.
  • To crush whole garlic cloves, use the press to create a buttery spread
