Frequently Asked Questions

Can you put spice in a drink?

I love how spices bring flavour to food. How do you make spices alive in drinks?

Spices add a wonderful depth to any beverage. Add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to your favorite beverage, such as coffee, tea, or hot chocolate.

But most recipes call for ground spices, meaning you'll need fresh whole spices. It makes sense but is time-consuming and expensive.

This is where the magic happens. With some creativity, your favourite spices can be made into powdered forms that are easy to use. Mix them with your favorite drinks to make delicious spiced beverages.

There are two possible ways to create these powders. One method involves grinding whole spices into fine powder. Another uses a mortar and pestle to grind the spices into a finer consistency.

Whatever method you choose to use, you will find that powders are much easier than whole spices. Plus, the powder keeps well so that you won't run out of stock.

You can also experiment with different spices to create new flavor combinations. You could make minty water by combining spearmint and peppermint. Ginger and cardamom pods can be used to make spicy ginger Tea.

Once you've mastered making powdered spices, you can apply the same technique to herbs. You can use basil, rosemary and thyme as common herbs.

The possibilities are endless. Powdered spices can enhance the flavor and texture of beverages, such as soups or salads, as well as the taste of pasta.

The mix can be enhanced with fish sauce, garlic, ginger, chilli peppers and ginger. These spices can be combined in different ways to create authentic Thai dishes.

Cumin is an essential ingredient in Thai cooking. It is used in many Thai traditional dishes. This spice gives Thai food a distinct and complex flavor. Cumin is an important ingredient in Thai cuisine because it adds unique spices to many dishes.

What are 7 Indian spices?

Indian spices is a collection Indian spices. They typically include cardamom, cumin, coriander, turmeric, fenugreek, ginger, and asafoetida (also known as hing). Spices add flavour to dishes by blending natural ingredients like meats, vegetables and spices. These spices combine to create distinctive flavour profiles which are the hallmark of Indian cooking.

Cardamom has an earthy, sweet flavor with notes of ginger and citrus. It's used in many dishes, including biryani and curries. Cumin has a earthy aroma and a rich, bitter flavour. It is commonly added to curries and meat dishes, as well as dals. Coriander gives dishes a mild nuttiness due to its sweet citrus aroma. It is used to season lentils and vegetables.

Turmeric has an earthy, spicy flavour that includes mustard, spices and pepper hints. This spice is commonly used in curries and other dishes and has a golden hue. Fenugreek has a rich aroma, earthy tones, and a slightly bitter flavour. Fenugreek is used to season meat dishes such as kebabs or curries. It is spicy and pungent with citrus hints. It can be used to spice up soups, curries and chutneys. Asafoetida (hing), has a strong flavor and pungent smell that can be used in place of onion and garlic in certain recipes.

Together, these spices create unique flavors that make Indian cooking so distinct.
