It may be that adding a few drops to your bowl of soup makes it more flavorful. Perhaps you can add some cayenne peppers to your cup of rice.

Fresh ingredients are the best way to try new spicing techniques. Organic herbs are better than dried herbs. Fresh herbs can last for longer than dried.

While some spices are essential for cooking, others might be better to avoid. Cinnamon sticks are high in coumarin so you should avoid them if your liver has been affected. Ginger also contains coumarin, but it's much less concentrated. It's safe for those without any history of liver problems.

How To

How to store cooking spices?

I'll show you how to store spices properly for best results. First of all, we need to establish an understanding of the science behind the storage of foodstuffs.

Because light can diminish the flavour of spices, they should be kept in sealed containers. This is due oxygen reacting with organic compounds such that spices, causing oxidation.

To prevent oxidation, spices should be stored in dark cupboards. These conditions can cause spices to quickly lose their flavor.

The best way to preserve the flavour of spices is to keep them in airtight jars away from direct sunlight.

You can flavor water by adding herbs and spices. For example, you could mix 2 tablespoons of ground cinnamon in 1/2 cup of warm milk and stir it well. Serve immediately by adding a squeeze lemon juice.

Add dried herbs and spices to soups. Spread the spice mixture evenly onto the dish. Allow it to sit for between 5-10 minutes before serving.

Remaining cooked vegetables, fruit and meats can be used in your favorite recipes to make snacks.

If you want to take advantage of the flavours of fresh herbs and spices, chop or tear them up and add them to foods while they're still hot. It is also possible to freeze herbs and spices in muffin cups or ice cube trays. Once frozen, transfer to freezer bags or zip-top plastic bags.
