Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between curried and curry?

It doesn't matter how the spelling is written. Both words refer to the same thing: an Indian dish combining meat or vegetables with various seasonings.

Curry is derived in Hindi from kari, which means to rub. This refers the way that the spice mix is applied onto the food. Curry foods are usually cooked until golden brown.

Curried dishes weren't always reserved for special occasions. Today, they can be enjoyed throughout India. They can be made with chicken, beef or lamb and include vegetables as well.

Curried dishes can be served alongside plain white or brown rice. A raita (a yogurt-based sauce) or a chutney is another common accompaniment.

What are the 11 Indian spices?

Indian cuisine includes eleven spices, including cumin, coriander, cumin, mustard, fennel, and nigella seed, as well as black pepper, cloves and cinnamon sticks, dry red chill powder, turmeric, cardamom, and black pepper.

These ingredients are used in almost every dish. These spices add a unique flavor to dishes like curries, chutneys and pickles, rice, bread, and desserts.

Health benefits can also be attained from spices. For example, turmeric helps fight cancer cells. Cloves protect against bad breath. Black pepper reduces cholesterol levels. Cinnamon lowers blood pressure. And ginger aids digestion.

A spice rack is a great kitchen tool because it allows you to experiment with different combinations of flavors. You have the option to make your own mixes of spices, or you can buy ready-made ones that include all the essential spices.

Some people choose not to add spice to their food. They believe that spices only mask natural flavors and do nothing to improve them. However, it is possible to enhance the taste of your meals by adding a little salt or pepper.

Most chefs agree that spices are an essential part of cooking art. Many dishes would lack flavor and be boring without them. So next time you're feeling adventurous, why not try a new recipe and see what happens?

Can you put spice in a drink?

I love how spices bring flavour to food. How can you make spices come to life when they are used in drinks?

Spices add a wonderful depth to any beverage. From coffee to tea, hot chocolate to cocktails, there's nothing more satisfying than adding a dash of cinnamon or nutmeg to a glass of wine or beer.

Most recipes require ground spices. You will need to use fresh whole spices. While this makes sense, it is costly, takes time and requires storage space.

That's where the magic happens. With your creativity, you can turn your favorite spices into easy-to-use powdered products. Then you can mix them into your favourite beverages to create delicious spiced drinks.

There are two methods to make these powders. One way is to grind whole spices into fine powder. A mortar and pestle is another method to grind the spices to a finer consistency.

It doesn't matter what method you choose, the result is easier to measure out than whole spices and easier to store. Plus, the powder keeps well so that you won't run out of stock.

You can even experiment with mixing different spices to create new flavours. To make minty water, you can combine spearmint and peppermint leaves. Or ginger and cardamom pods to make spicy ginger tea.

Once you've mastered making powdered spices, you can apply the same technique to herbs. Oregano and rosemary are all popular herbs.

The possibilities are limitless. Powdered spices can be used to add flavour to beverages or enhance the flavor of dishes like soups, salads and pasta.

Is Thai food made with cumin?

Stir-fries, soups, curries, and salads are all popular uses of cumin in Thai cuisine. Cumin can also be added to sauces, marinades and dressings. Other spices, however, are important in Thai cuisine.

Unique flavours are added by fish sauce, garlic cloves, ginger, and chilli peppers. Chefs can create unique dishes by combining different spices in different amounts.

Cumin is a key ingredient in Thai cuisine and can be found in many of the traditional Thai dishes. This spice gives Thai food a distinct and complex flavor. Cumin is an important ingredient in Thai cuisine because it adds unique spices to many dishes.

It is possible to create unique and delicious flavours by using spices such as cumin in Thai cooking. The answer is yes, cumin is an essential component of many Thai traditional dishes.

What is Thai cooking's most famous ingredient?

Thailand has two main ingredients that make up the heart and soul of all dishes: rice, curry, and steamed vegetables. This is how you get an unforgettable flavor.

Combining these two basic foods into one dish is known as "Khaopad Krai" in Thailand.

It's the same for your life. It is possible to achieve great success by combining the two key ingredients of hard work, perseverance, and determination.

As Khao Pad Krai did, passion and purpose can be combined to make you successful. Combining them will produce something special.

When you are craving Thai food, don't forget to add rice and curry! You'll be amazed at how much fun you can have experimenting with different ingredients!

How To

How to store cooking spice?

I'll show you how to store spices properly for best results. First, we must understand how food is stored.

Keep spices out of direct sunlight as light will reduce their flavor. This is due to oxidation which occurs when oxygen combines with organic compounds such as those found in spices.

To avoid oxidation, spice should be kept in dark cupboards. If these conditions are not met, spices will quickly lose their flavour.

Keep spices in airtight containers away from direct sun to preserve their flavour.

For a flavoured beverage, add herbs and spices. For example, you could mix 2 tablespoons of ground cinnamon in 1/2 cup of warm milk and stir it well. Add a squeeze or lemon juice to the mixture and serve immediately.

Dried herbs can be added to soups stews, casseroles pasta dishes rice dishes salads and desserts. Just sprinkle the spice mix evenly over the dish. Let it rest for 5-10 minutes before you serve.

Leftover cooked vegetables, fruits and meats, as well as leftover cheese, breads, crackers, cookies or cakes can be added to favorite recipes for snacks.

For the best flavor of fresh herbs, you can chop them up or tear them apart and then add them to your favorite foods. Also, you can freeze herbs and spice by placing them into ice cube dishes or muffin cups. Transfer frozen items to zip-top or freezer bags.
