How to Make A Garlic Press

A garlic press is an essential tool for any home cook. It makes it easy to mince garlic into a paste, puree it into soups or salad dressings, or even make a sauce. It can also be used to crush whole garlic cloves into buttery spreads or garlic salt.

However, if you don’t already have a garlic pressing machine, you might wonder how to get one. We have some tips to help get you started.

First of all, you'll need to get a large bowl. Place the bowl underneath the press and pour the crushed garlic into it. Now, set the pressure regulator valve to the maximum.

Next, turn the handle counterclockwise until you hear a click. You will be able to slide the blade over the bowl by lifting the top part of your press. Keep turning the handle clockwise until you reach the end of the blades.

Finally, remove the pressed garlic.

Here are other ways you can make use of this versatile tool.

  • You can add minced garlic to soups and sauces, salads, dips, or as a seasoning.
  • Use the press for whole garlic cloves to make a buttery spread
  • Before baking, crush whole cloves of garlic on pizza dough
  • Mix roasted garlic in mashed potatoes or creamy pasta.
  • The press can be used to make pesto from garlic
