Now love yourself and enjoy this one ...
After one sip, your taste buds will be transported to sunny Miami. This cocktail is layered beautifully and has a combination of strawberry daiquiri, pina colada, and other flavors.
Table of Contents
Miami Vice is the marriage of two tropical classics: a strawberry Daiquiri, and a Pina Colada. You'll be transported to the beaches of Miami with just one sip (though I doubt Don Johnson will come along). It's a great drink to serve for poolside parties, too. It looks fruity and bright and will cool both you and your guests down in no time.
I sometimes can't choose between the creamy flavor of a daiquiri and the fruity flavor in a pina-colada. Both have tropical flavors and are often associated with resorts, beach vacations, and fun on the sand. Instead of choosing between the two, I make a Miami Vice to get the best of both!
Ingredients
- 2 oz light rum
- 1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
- Strawberry puree or 2 oz of strawberries
- 1 oz simple syrup
- 1 oz of cream coconut
- 2 oz pineapple juice
- 1 cup of ice (divided).
Equipment Required
- Blender for strawberry daiquiri, pina colada and other mixtures
- A (like a measuring spoon or jigger) to measure the pineapple juice, light rum and simple syrup.
- Use a separate container (to pour the strawberry daiquiri mix and then set it aside)
- The tall cocktail or hurricane glasses (for serving the cocktail).
- Use a spoon or spatula to help layer the pina-colada mixture over the strawberry daiquiri.
- A cocktail umbrellaand a umbrella for cocktails (to garnish).
Instrucciones
Daiquiri Blend
Add 1/2 cup ice to a blender. Add 1 oz of light rum. Add strawberries, lime and simple syrup. Blend until smooth. Pour the strawberry-daiquiri mix into a separate container. Set aside.
Blend (The Pina Colada),
Add another 1/2 cup ice to the blender. Then add 1 oz of light rum, coconut cream, and pineapple juice. Blend until smooth.
Layer
Pour half of the strawberry daiquiri mix into a glass. Pour the pina-colada mixture carefully on top of strawberry daiquiri and fill the remainder of the glass.
Garnish
Add a cocktail umbrella and garnish with a pineapple or strawberry slice (optional). Enjoy your Miami Vice cocktail with a straw!
Tip and Tricks
- Use high-quality ingredients. As with most recipes, your cocktail's quality will be greatly affected by the quality and quantity of ingredients. For a Miami Vice I recommend using fresh strawberries, pineapples that are ripe, and premium rum.
- Be careful with the ice. Pay close attention to how much you use. If you use too much ice, your cocktail will become too thick. If you don't add enough, it will become too thin. Blend each component one by one until you get a smooth texture.
- Layering hack Pour pina colada over the back side of a teaspoon (like one of those layered shot glasses) and into the strawberry daiquiri mixture. This will allow the pina-colada mixture to sit on top of the strawberry daiquiri.
- Glass choice: Choose a hurricane or tall cocktail glass to show off the layers in your Miami Vice. It is important to chill the glass before serving so that it keeps the drink at the right temperature for as long possible.
- Don’t forget to garnish your dish: You can add a strawberry, pineapple, or even fresh mint. I sometimes also use an umbrella.
Make an Alcohol-Free Miami Vice
If you want to make this cocktail non-alcoholic, simply omit the alcohol. Miami Vice without alcohol is equally delicious and refreshing.
Variations
Healthier Low-Carb Miami Vice
Use sugar substitutes instead of simple syrup or sugar (such as Stevia or Erythritol). Coconut milk can replace the cream of coconut, as it has less calories and carbs. Avoid the processed fruit purees and use fresh fruit instead for a healthier, cleaner version.
Exotic Fruit Fusion
Add mango or passionfruit to the layer of pina colada and raspberries and/or blackberries to that of daiquiri.
Spicy Miami Vice
Add a few slices of jalapeno or a dash hot sauce (like I do in my spicy margarita), to the strawberry mixture. Sweet and sweaty are a fantastic combination!
Coconut Grove
Use flavored rum like pineapple or coconut to add a tropical flavor.
Boozy Island Escape
Add a little dark rum or Cointreau to the pina-colada mix to make it stronger.
FAQs
The average Miami Vice has 300-400 more calories per serving than other cocktails. Below are some tips to help you reduce that number.
This one is best enjoyed with a straw, which will allow you to enjoy both the strawberry daiquiri as well as the pina-colada flavors.
Yes, you can mix the strawberry daiquiri mixture and the pina colada separately and store in the fridge for a couple of hours before your party. When it's serving time, layer the mixtures carefully in the glasses to create a fresh and impressive drink (see my Tips and Tricks Section).
How to store a Miami Vice
You should still have your daiquiri mixture and pina-colada separate. Store them in the refrigerator if you have separate mixtures. They can be kept for up to a day.
You can freeze the mixtures in ice-cube trays if you want to keep them longer. It keeps them separate, preserves the quality and allows you to blend the cubes once you are ready to serve.

Ginger is known for stimulating digestion and relieving nausea. It may even help prevent migraines. Ginger aids in relieving muscle spasms and joint pains. It can also treat arthritis.
In Thailand, ginger is most often used fresh. Ginger root is first cut into thin strips before drying and stored. From Asian markets, ginger root can be bought in cans and jars.
What is the difference between curry and curried?
There is no difference in spelling. Both words refer to the same thing: an Indian dish combining meat or vegetables with various seasonings.
Curry is derived from the Hindi word kari, which means "to rub". This refers to the way the spice mixture is applied to the food. Curry is typically prepared until the food is golden brown.
Although curried dishes used to be reserved for special occasions, today they are enjoyed all over India. You can choose from chicken, beef, lamb or fish as well as vegetables and rice.
Curried dishes are typically served alongside plain white rice. Other common accompaniments include raita (a yogurt sauce) and chutney (a sweet relish).

How To
Do You Know How To Make Curry Paste?
Curry paste is made from dried chillies, shallots and galangal root. It also contains lemongrass, galangal root (lemongrass), lemongrass, kaffir Lim leaf, garlic, shrimp paste and sugar. It's a common ingredient in Thai cuisine.
Curry paste is one of the most popular condiments in Southeast Asia. Curry paste can add a distinct flavour to many dishes like curries.
It's not difficult to make at home! Follow our step-bystep guide below.
Step1 - Prepare Ingredients
- Before you can start the recipe, it is important to have all the ingredients ready.
- To begin, you will need to peel and chop shallots (about 2 cups). Then chop galangal root into small pieces (about 3 inches long) and set aside.
- Next, peel and slice garlic cloves (about four cloves). Lemongrass stems about 1/2 inch thick should be removed and finely chopped.
- Next, crush the dried red chilli peppers (4 tablespoons) and then remove the seeds (optional).
- Next, trim the kaffir lime leaves into strips about 5 inches in length. Take out the white part and place it in a bowl.
- After draining the shrimp paste, wash it well and then coarsely smash it.
- Final, weigh out salt and sugar.
Step2 - Grind Ingredients
- Mix all ingredients until well combined.
- The texture should look similar to peanut-butter.
- Note: if you want to reduce the amount of oil in the dish, you can substitute some water for some of the oil.
Step3 - Add Coconut Milk
- Add coconut milk to the mixture and mix well.
- Add coconut milk slowly so that the paste does not become too sticky.
- You can reduce the amount of chillies and increase the quantity of galangal root if you prefer it less spicy.
- You can make it more spicy by adding more chilies and less galangal root. The final result should taste delicious to you.
Step4 -- Serve
- Serve on top of your favourite foods.
- Enjoy!
