This recipe for seared ahi steak is a super-healthy dish of seafood. The fish is cooked in a sauce which has a honey-sweet and a soy-sauce-savory flavor.
Table of Contents
You don't know what Ahi tuna is. You may know it by another name, yellowfin. You still scratching your heads? Keep reading.
It is a mild-flavored fish with a tender texture. The bright red color is also a characteristic of this fish. This fish is a favorite ingredient in sushi, sashimi and poke bowls. Due to this, I recommend that you only buy tuna from sustainable resources. Eating responsibly is different from eating. ).
You can adjust the quantities to your taste. I will also include side dishes that go well with tuna, so you can create a full meal that is beautiful and delicious for your family or guests.
Why You'll Love This Recipe
- The perfect starter for a busy week, this seared tuna takes just a few moments to prepare.
- The tuna has been cooked to medium rare, full of umami flavor from soy sauce and sesame.
- Serve this tuna steak seared with a simple rice dish or a salad.
Is this Seared Ahi Tuna steak healthy?
Tuna is a healthy fish. It is a meat that's high in protein and lean. It is high in omega-3 fats, which are good for your heart. Also, it contains vitamin B12 and selenium. Don't go overboard with the sodium-rich soy sauce.
Ingredients
Only a few ingredients are needed -- a mix of sweet (honey), and savory, (soya sauce):
- Tuna fillets are 2 inches thick.
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- White sesame seeds, 1 tsp
- 2 tbsp of sesame oil
- Honey 1 tbsp
- Black pepper pinch
- Half a tbsp of green onions, , sliced
- Lime wedges as a garnish
Instrucciones
Combination
Combine the soy sauce with 1 tablespoon of sesame oil. Add honey and black pepper. Mix well.
Marinate
Pour the mixture on the tuna steak and coat it completely. Let the tuna steak marinate in the refrigerator for at least 10 min.
Sear
Heated a skillet to HIGH. Add 1 tablespoon sesame oil. After the oil is hot, sear each side of the tuna for two minutes. For best results, the tuna steak should be cooked medium-rare.
Slice
Transfer the seared steak of tuna onto a cutting surface. Slice the tuna steak into slices of 1/2 inch thick. Serve the tuna slices with sesame seeds and lime wedges, green onions, and green onions.
DEVOUR!
Variations
- You can substitute soy sauce for shoyu (a fermented Japanese soybean product). Use a reduced-sodium product if you're sensitive to salt.
- You can use regular sugar instead of honey. If you prefer a thicker sugar, try brown sugar which contains molasses. The texture may be more appealing to you.
Serving Suggestions
These suggestions are healthy, but don't worry: they will all taste great and go with the tuna.
Healthy Mediterranean Couscous Salad Couscous is nutty in flavor and pairs well with fish.
Cucumber-and-Tomato Salad with Onions Here's a salad that features bright greens, reds (and even a little purple). You know what the rule is with salads? The more vibrant, the better.
Vegetable Fried rice: This works well with soy sauce used in the marinade for the tuna. Together, they create a meal with an Oriental flair.
Sweet-Potato salad with Avocado Dressing I wanted to add a potato dish. Sweet potatoes are a healthier alternative to traditional potatoes. You can use either the avocado sauce or the tuna sauce to flavor the dish.
FAQs
Marinate the tuna steaks in the refrigerator for a short time. The tuna will taste saltier if you do this. Use a low sodium soy sauce if you intend to marinate the tuna for a long time.
Tuna can be eaten medium-rarely as it does not contain parasites. You can buy tuna that is sushi grade.
The thickness of the steak will determine how long it takes to cook seared tuna. I used a tuna fillet that was 2 inches thick. It should have taken me two minutes to cook each side.
How to store ahi Tuna
Allow the tuna steak to cool completely. Wrap the tuna steak in aluminum or plastic or place it in an airtight jar. Eat the fish within two days. The quality of the fish will diminish if you leave it out for too long. You can also freeze fish. Wrap the fish in plastic or aluminum to prevent freezer burn. Then place it in a container that is airtight. You can keep it for up to three months, but I recommend eating it within two weeks.
Thaw the fish overnight in the refrigerator before you plan to eat. If the fish smells bad, is slimy, or has a pale color, you should discard it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Thai use ginger?
The answer is yes. Traditional Thai cooking makes extensive use of ginger. Ginger is often used to make stir-fries and soups. It is also used in desserts, drinks, such a lassis.
Ginger is a common ginger plant in China, Japan, Korea, and elsewhere. Its origins can be traced back to more than 5,000years ago. It is believed to have originated from Southeast Asia, where it was cultivated medicinally.
Ginger has been shown to reduce nausea and stimulate digestion. It may even help prevent migraines. Ginger can also be used to treat arthritis, muscle spasms, joint pains, or relieve them.
Ginger is most commonly used fresh in Thailand. It is sliced into thin strips and then dried before being stored for later use. From Asian markets, ginger root can be bought in cans and jars.
What are the principal Flavours in Thai Cuisine?
Thai cuisine includes several distinct regional cuisines. There are five main types of Thai cuisine: Northern, Central, Southern and Eastern. Each region has its distinctive flavour profile.
Thai food contains many flavors.
Thais appreciate sweetness. It makes Thai food taste better. Thai cuisine includes sweet ingredients like palm sugar (gulamelaka) or coconut milk.
Sourness is also very popular in Thailand. Hot dishes are often paired with sour foods. This helps to balance the heat.
Thai food has a lot of spicy ingredients. Thai cuisine is rich in spices like galangal, ginger root and chilli pepper.
What's the importance of spices in your life?
Spices are seasonings that enhance the flavour of food. Spices can be powdered, liquids or oils. They are also known for their versatility and ability to be used as flavours and condiments.
A great way to spice up your meals is to add some variety. You can spice up dishes with many different spices for more flavor and excitement.
You may find that adding a few drops of hot pepper sauce to a bowl of soup will make it taste more delicious. Or perhaps you could mix a handful of cayenne peppers with a cup of rice.
You can experiment with spice recipes best if you use fresh ingredients. If you buy dried herbs, look for those that are organic. Fresh herbs will last longer than dried.
Some spices are essential to cooking; however, there are some that you might prefer to avoid. Cinnamon sticks have high levels of coumarin. They should not be consumed if you have had liver disease in the past. Although ginger also contains coumarin it is much less concentrated. It is safe for people without a history or liver disease.
Thai food includes paprika.
Yes. It is a key ingredient in many dishes, such as Pad See Ew (Thai-fried rice), made from eggs cooked with coconut milk.
Thai, Mexican, Spanish, Indian and Chinese cuisines include paprika.
Paprika dates back more than 5,000 years to Ancient Greece. The Hungarian language "pepper" is the origin of "paprika".

How To
Are you a master of making curry paste?
Curry paste includes dried chillies (scallions, shallots), galangal root and lemongrass as well as kaffir lime leaves, garlic, shrimp pastes, sugar, salt and sometimes coconut milk. It is an important ingredient in Thai cuisine.
Curry paste is one of the most popular condiments in Southeast Asia. This unique flavor can be added to many dishes including curries, soups and stir-fries as well as rice dishes, noodles, desserts, and rice dishes.
It's easy to make at-home! Follow the steps below to make it easy!
Step1 - Prepare Ingredients
- Before starting the recipe, you will need to prepare all ingredients.
- Start by peeling and chopping shallots (about 2 cups). Cut galangal root in small pieces, about 3 inches long. Set aside.
- Next, cut four garlic cloves into pieces. Finely chop the lemongrass stems to about 1/2 inch in thickness.
- After that, you will need to crush dried red chili peppers (about four tablespoons) before removing the seeds (optional).
- Cut the kaffirlime leaves into small strips, approximately 5 inches in length. The white part of your stem should be removed and put aside.
- Then drain the shrimp paste (6 ounces) and then coarsely mash it.
- Measure out the sugar and salt.
Step2 - Grind Ingredients
- Blend all ingredients until smooth
- The texture should look similar to peanut-butter.
- Note: if you want to reduce the amount of oil in the dish, you can substitute some water for some of the oil.
Step3 - Add Coconut Milk
- Add coconut milk to the mixture, and mix well.
- To prevent the coconut milk from becoming too sticky, slowly add it.
- If you prefer less spice, add less chillies to the recipe and more galangalroot.
- For a more spicy taste, increase the amount of chillies and reduce the use of galangal root. The end result should be delicious.
Step4 -- Serve
- Serve with your favourite foods.
- Enjoy!
