For now, love yourself and enjoy this one ...

Now love yourself and enjoy this one ...

Garlic bread is a great addition to any meal, and especially when it comes from your own kitchen. This garlic bread has been my favorite for years and I make it way more than I should. Why? It's so easy to make and tastes great. You can also freeze it for when you get a garlic bread craving. Which for me, is pretty much every evening.

What do you need to make garlic bread?

It's easy to make homemade garlic bread using real butter and garlic. It tastes so much better than the stuff you find in the frozen section of the supermarket. What you need to make the best garlic bread I've ever had:

  • Bread According to IMHO the best bread for making homemade garlic bread is a large, soft loaf of French or Italian bread. It absorbs the garlic bread without becoming too hard or crisp as it bakes. Although I love baguettes in general, they can get very hard and do not absorb the butter as well as a slightly soft loaf.
  • Butter Salted, salted butter delivers all the garlicky flavor to the bread and makes it extra delicious. If you don't have unsalted butter, you can still use it. But you will need to add more salt to the mixture of garlic butter to bring out the flavors.
  • Olive oil: A small amount of olive oil makes the olive oil easier to spread AND keeps the butter from browning as much while baking.
  • Fresh Garlic : Garlic bread without fresh garlic? Fresh garlic keeps the garlic flavor in focus with a nice punchy end.
  • Garlic powder: A small amount of garlic powder added to fresh garlic in addition adds an intensely garlicky base note. You're getting two garlic-punches!
  • Parsley Fresh chopped parsley gives the dish a nice green color and a bit of freshness. It also cuts through the buttery flavor. If you don't happen to have any parsley, you can leave it out.
  • Salted Butter: The salted butter already contains some salt, but adding a bit more makes the flavors of the garlic bread pop.

What else can I add?

You can add any of these ingredients to the basic garlic bread recipe.

  • Stir a few tablespoons of grated Parmesan cheese into the garlic butter mix for a crisp, umami-finish.
  • Add whole milk mozzarella to the top before baking for a cheesy, garlic bread.
  • For a milder, roasted taste, use roasted garlic in place of or in addition to fresh garlic.
  • Add more herbs. Add more herbs. If you have an herb plant, try adding some basil or oregano.
  • Add a teaspoon or two of pesto to the mixture.

How to store and reheat garlic bread

This garlic bread freezes beautifully. Once you have spread the delicious mixture of garlic butter on your loaf, place it in an airtight container like a gallon size freezer bag. You can bake it straight from the frozen state, adding just a few extra minutes to the baking process.

If you want to store leftover baked garlic bread, allow it to cool to room temperature completely before storing in an airtight container. This will prevent condensation. Garlic bread can be stored at room temperature or in the fridge for up to 2-3 days. Garlic bread can either be heated in the air fryer or microwave for 30 seconds or by wrapping it tightly in foil, and baking at 350oF or until heated.

Don't forget Homemade Pizza Sauce to dip in your homemade garlic bread or cheesy bread!

Ingredients

  • One loaf of French or Italian bread (approx. 24" long) $2.99
  • 6 Tbsp butter, room temperature $0.75
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil $0.32
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced $0.32
  • 2 Tbsp chopped fresh parsley $0.22
  • 1/8 tsp salt $0.01

Instructions

  • Pre-heat the oven to 400oF. Stir together butter at room temperature, olive oil with garlic powder and parsley until smooth.
  • The loaf can be cut in two pieces of 12" length, and then each piece is opened up. Place the bread cut side up on a baking tray. Spread the garlic butter evenly on the exposed surfaces of the bread. *
  • Bake the bread until the edges turn golden brown. If you want a softer garlicbread, bake for a shorter time. Bake longer if your preference is a crispier bread. Serve the hot bread in 2-inch sections.

Notes

Once the garlic butter has been spread on the bread, it can be frozen into gallon-sized bags to be baked later. It is possible to bake the bread straight from frozen, but it will take longer for it to brown.

Step-by-step photos on how to make garlic bread

Start by heating the oven to 400oF. Combine 6 Tbsp butter at room temperature, 2 Tbsp oil, 4 garlic cloves minced, 1/4 tsp of garlic powder, 2 Tbsp fresh chopped parsley and 1/8 tsp of salt in a large bowl.

Mix all the ingredients for the garlic butter until they are evenly combined. You can leave some butter lumps in the mixture.

Then, cut each 12-inch section in half.

Spread the mixture of garlic butter evenly on the surface of the bread. Make sure you get to the edges.

You can freeze the garlic bread unbaked for later if you wish! No need to thaw the garlic bread before baking, just add a few minutes more to the bake time.

Place the garlic bread onto a large baking tray (parchment is optional but will make cleanup easier). Bake the garlicbread in the oven until golden brown. Bake for less time if you want softer garlicbread and for longer if you want crispier garlicbread.

Serve the garlic bread in 2-inch-wide pieces.

Yaassssssss. Garlic bread forever.

What to serve with Garlic Bread?

  • Easy Homemade Lasagna
  • Stuffed Bell Peppers
  • Baked Ziti
  • Tuscan White Bean Pasta

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the most popular organic products?

Today, organic foods are the fastest-growing industries. However, we still have a lot to learn from our roots.

Organic products will be the future. They are safer and more cost-effective for consumers.

They are also generally more expensive. We created the Organic Food Index. We wanted to find out which foods are most popular with shoppers today, and whether these trends are changing.

The results showed that organic food is increasing in popularity. The number of Americans shopping for organic food grew by nearly 50% between 2011 and 2012.

According to USDA, organic production grew by 10% last year. The U.S. now produces 9% of its agricultural output from organic food.

Organic food is certainly on the rise but consumers are still not able to afford it. According to the Organic Trade Association OTA, organic food retail prices are about twice those of conventional products.

The organic food sector is growing faster than other segments of the food supply. If you examine the data closely, you will see that organic foods have grown steadily in consumption since 2009.

According to OTA the volume of organic products sold at supermarkets grew by 14% in 2010 and 2011.

This is because of consumer demand for healthier products, which explains the rise in organic food sales across all age categories.

However, the younger generation is leading the charge in choosing organic food. Millennials have twice the likelihood of buying organic food as baby boomers. The 25% of organic food purchase made by younger adults below 35 are made up of young adults.

What is organic meat?

Organic meat is organic food that has been grown naturally without the use of pesticides, artificial fertilizers or hormones. Organic meat is also a guarantee that the animals weren’t fed any genetically altered feed. Because there are no harmful chemicals in the meat, it is safe for human consumption.

Organic meats are also better for our environment. We reduce the amount of pollution in our rivers, lakes, and landfills by eating organic food. Organic farmers are less likely to use toxic chemicals to kill birds or insects. This helps protect wildlife.

Buy organic meats whenever possible. This is the best way for you to eat healthy, organic meats. Local buying helps to keep money in the community, rather than moving out of state. Local businesses often offer discounts to their customers by shopping locally. In addition, buying local keeps jobs right here in America instead of sending them overseas.

What are natural beauty products?

Organic Beauty Products do not contain synthetic chemicals like petroleum, parabens or phenoxyethanol. They are made from natural ingredients and don't contain artificial preservatives. These ingredients are present in all conventional beauty products including shampoos and cosmetics.

Organic beauty products don't contain genetically modified organisms and are therefore free from animal testing.

The USDA defines organic as "a system that fosters the cycling of resources." It has been used for many decades to describe food products grown without pesticides.

Due to the adverse effects of chemicals on our bodies, there has been a growing demand for eco-friendly cosmetics in recent years.

These include cancer, allergies, skin irritation, hormonal imbalance, and premature aging.

Organic beauty companies work to create safe and healthy products for their customers while also protecting the environment.

Is organic meat more nutritious?

If you've been paying any attention, you likely already know the answer. However, the truth is organic food is gaining popularity at a time when conventional food is falling out of favor.

Organic foods are more appealing because they are healthier. Organic foods are safer for our bodies and help to reduce pollution.

But there are two sides to this coin. Organic produce is more difficult to grow and takes more resources. Organic food can be more expensive than its nonorganic counterpart.

Organic meats will typically be more expensive than those that are raised in conventional conditions. But there are ways to cut costs without sacrificing quality.

Locally grown produce is a great way to save money. Buy locally grown vegetables and fruits to help keep prices low. Farmers receive incentives to grow healthier crops.

You can also look for deals to reduce costs. Many organic products can be purchased at a discount.

You can also save money by eating less meat. Feeding livestock can be very expensive.

While there are many reasons organic food is better for our bodies as well as the planet, we must not forget the cost.

Statistics

  • When packaged products indicate they are “made with organic [specific ingredient or food group],” they contain at least 70% organically produced ingredients. (usda.gov)
  • Brands participating in this challenge are committed to using 100 percent sustainable cotton by 2025.[5] (en.wikipedia.org)
  • As for organic meat, regulations require that animals be raised in living conditions that accommodate their natural behaviours (like the ability to graze on pasture), fed 100% organic feed and forage, and not administered antibiotics or hormones. (usda.gov)
  • Once certified by the USDA, it can fall into one of four categories: "100 percent organic", "organic," "made with organic ingredients," or "made with less than 70 percent organic ingredients. (en.wikipedia.org)

How To

What happens to your body if you switch to organic products

Organic products do not contain synthetic fertilizers or hormones. They are free-range and come from clean water sources. They are organic because they don't contain any additives or chemicals. This product was made from natural materials and is free of harmful substances.

The term "natural", refers only to how food was grown. It is used to describe food that has not been processed into its final form, such as fruits. Natural foods are usually fresher than processed foods, as they haven’t been exposed to heat, radiation, chemical preservatives, or other treatments. However, some people believe natural doesn't necessarily mean healthy. Experts believe there is no difference in organic and conventional food. Both types of food are tested for safety, quality, and purity. Organic produce has less pesticide residues and pollutant than conventionally grown food.

Most grocery shops now carry organic options. If you are looking for organic meat, poultry and eggs, check with your local grocery store. Some companies only sell organic products. Others have separate sections. You should look for USDA Certified Organic, Non GMO Project Verified (Biodynamic Association Certified), Rainforest Alliance Certified, and other certifications.

If you are pregnant, or nursing, these products should not be eaten. Pesticides can harm unborn infants and babies.
