Pop quiz! What drink would you choose to enjoy on a hot day in the summer? The Gimlet is my drink of choice. This is a favorite that combines gin with lime juice and a little simple syrup to add sweetness. It's simple to make, but packs a punch. Cocktail lovers and beginners alike will raise a drink.

The Gimlet can be compared to the likes of the Tom Collins, Classic Gin Fizz and Whiskey Highball (it reminds me also of my Aviation Cocktail and a whiskey highball!). The Gimlet is a unique drink with its lime juice and gin rich roots. This Gimlet will be a hit at any dinner party, or even a lazy Sunday afternoon with a good book.

Ingredients

Grab these ingredients before heading out to the patio and make a Gimlet.

  • 2 oz. Gin
  • 3/4 oz. Lime juice
  • 3/4 oz. Simple syrup
  • Lime twist or lime wheel
  • Ice cubes

Need for Equipment

  • cocktail shaker
  • Ice cube tray
  • Strainer (if it is not included in the shaker).
  • Glassware
  • Garnishing tool
  • Jigger or measuring tool

Instrucciones

Add

Fill the cocktail shaker up with ice. Add the gin to the shaker along with the lime juice and simple syrup.

Shake

Shake vigorously the concoction for 15-20 seconds in order to mix thoroughly and chill the cocktail.

Strain

Pour the cocktail through a strainer into a coupe or martini glasses to remove any sediment or ice.

Garnish

Garnish the drink with a lime twist or lime wheel (i.e. twisting a strip from the lime peel to release aromatic oils). Enjoy!
