Are you ready for a new snack that will make your mouth water? Hello to crispy, guilt-free Onion Rings. It's easy to make and delicious. Fire up the air fryer to enjoy some delicious food.
Table of Contents
We have plenty of space for those who are yet to jump on the air fryer train. It's the perfect moment to introduce yourself to this new appliance, and to bid farewell to deep-fried, greasy onion rings. This recipe will give you a delicious, guilt-free snack that is full of flavor and texture.
The onion rings are a favorite snack, right up there with the french fries. Like potatoes, onion rings can be prepared in many different ways. You can air fry them, bake them, or fry them. But Only air frying can give the perfect combination of crunchiness and softness.
You can make them any way you like. Think of unique ingredients such as cornmeal and Cajun seasoning. We'll have you air-frying in no time, however you like to prepare them.
What are the health benefits of air-fryer onion rings?
Air-fried onion rings have the same taste as deep-fried ones, but use a fraction of the oil. Air frying also locks in the vitamins and nutrients that are lost when deep-frying. You won't be lying when you tell others that you are eating vegetables by inhaling a plate of onion rings air-fried.
Ingredients
This is not the only way to make onion rings. Have fun experimenting!
- 2 Onions
- 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 2 tbsp of yellow cornmeal
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- Cajun seasoning, 1 tbsp
- 2 Egg Whites
- Spraying oil
- Dip for Serving
Instrucciones
Prep
Pre-heat your air fryer at 375degF. Slice the onion into rings of 1/3-inch thickness. Set them aside.
Marinate
Pour the buttermilk over the onion rings. Let the onions marinate for 2 hours at least in the refrigerator.
Combine
Combine the cornmeal, panko and Cajun seasoning in a small bowl.
In a separate bowl, whisk egg whites to foam. Dip each onion ring into the egg whites.
The onion rings can be dipped in the mixture of breading. Spray the oil spray on the onion rings after they have been breaded and placed in the air fryer.
Air Fry
Air fry the onion rings until they are golden brown. Transfer the onion rings from the air fryer to a serving plate.

Tips and Tricks
Select the right onions. You want to choose large, firm onion varieties, like Vidalia or sweet. These onions will not only be easier to slice, but they'll also taste better (in the humble opinion of this writer).
Slice uniformly: Cut onions as evenly as possible to ensure they cook evenly. You may find a mandoline handy. Spread the onion rings evenly in the air fryer. They shouldn't touch each other.
Prepare the onions: Soak onion rings for 30 minutes in cold water before preparing the recipe. The bite will be removed and the batter should become crisper. After giving them a bath, pat them dry using paper towels.
Variations
- Dip each onion ring into a mixture consisting of Parmesan, dried herbs, and breadcrumbs.
- If you want your rings to have a little kick, add some cayenne or chili flakes.
- Try different herbs and seasonings (I know Cajun is great, but it's certainly not the only flavor). All of the usuals, such as salt, pepper, dried oregano and paprika will work.
Serving Suggestions
You can serve the air fryer rings with a Keto Cucumber Salad as your greens. For dessert, you could serve No-Bake Keto Chocolate and Peanut Butter Fat Bombs.
FAQs
You can do it! Simply swap the regular flour for gluten-free alternatives. You can find rice flour or almonds at your local supermarket.
Buttermilk gives the onions a tangy taste and softens them. If you don't have buttermilk, or are in a hurry, mix 1 cup of milk and 1 tablespoon white vinegar or lemon. Let it sit for some time, then use it.
The secret to crispy onion rings is to pre-heat your air fryer. Aim for 375degF.
Before I marinate the rings, I dry them off. Too much moisture can cause the breading to fall right off. Give the onion rings an extra good dip in the egg white foam before coating them. Don't be too gentle with the breadcrumbs, as they will need to be pressed down a bit for them to adhere. Once the breadcrumbs have been placed on the onion, you should handle it with care when placing in the air fryer.
How to store air fryer onion rings
If you need to store onion rings only for a short time, let them cool completely and then place them on an air-circulation rack. Cover the onion rings lightly with a towel or foil. (No clingfilm, please! We're trying to avoid sogginess!) Keep them away from heat or direct sunlight.
If you want to keep them longer, place them on a flat plate and cover it with parchment or wax paper. Then, use foil. Put them in the fridge to chill for up to 2-3 days. It's as simple as that!

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the mother of all herbs?
The answer may surprise you!
It is a common garden herb known as rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis). Rosemary has long been associated with fertility, longevity, and protection from illness. In some cultures, it was believed that the fragrance of rosemary could ward off evil spirits.
As such, it has been used for centuries in various medicinal, culinary, and spiritual applications. Rosemary has a unique flavor that pairs well with many dishes, making it a popular choice in the kitchen. Its fragrant leaves also add flavor to sauces, herbs, and meats.
Rosemary is a powerful medicinal herb used throughout the centuries to treat various ailments. Rosemary essential oil can treat respiratory tract infections, digestion problems, skin irritation, and inflammation. Its anti-inflammatory properties make it helpful in treating headaches and muscle pain as well. In addition, the oil has been used to improve cognitive function and memory recall. Rosemary can also be taken as a supplement, tea, or tincture for its many benefits.
It's no wonder rosemary is known as the mother of herbs! It truly is a versatile and valued herb.
Which herbs are healing herbs?
If you look for healing herbs, you won’t find them in the supermarket. There isn’t any place to buy them. There is no store selling them.
You haven’t been able to find healing herbs because they aren’t sold anywhere. They are grown right here in our backyard.
Healing herbs are plants that grow naturally in North America. Like many common household items, these herbs grow throughout the United States and Canada.
These herbs treat minor ailments such as colds, flu, sore throats, coughs, and headaches. Many of these herbs have been used for centuries to help heal wounds and promote overall health.
Of course, when we say “heal,” we mean more than simply treating an illness. We also refer to the ability of these herbs to restore balance and harmony within ourselves and the world around us.
For example, the chamomile herb helps relieve stress. This means that if you feel stressed out, you may benefit from taking chamomile tea. Chamomile tea has been shown to reduce anxiety and nervous tension.
In addition, chamomile tea has been proven effective in relieving insomnia.
Chamomile tea has many other benefits, including its ability to ease stomach aches and gas pains and even improve digestion.
Another popular healing herb is Echinacea. Echinacea is known for helping to fight infections and boosting the immune system.
Echinacea is commonly taken internally and externally to fight infection, prevent viral diseases, and boost immunity. It is safe to use during pregnancy and lactation.
Echinacea also helps reduce muscle pain and inflammation. You can take echinacea orally or topically (as an ointment).
This herb is available in both liquid and capsule form. Liquid echinacea is often mixed with honey and lemon juice. The mixture is then strained and consumed.
Capsules are usually made of freeze-dried plant material. They contain standardized amounts of active ingredients. To use capsules, swallow one or two a day.
The third type of herbal remedy is called tincture. Tinctures are alcoholic extracts of herbs. They are typically used to treat internal problems. Tinctures are generally diluted before being ingested.
Tinctures can be taken orally or applied topically. For oral consumption, dilute tinctures with water. Some people prefer to mix tinctures with food.
Tinctures are easy to prepare. Put about one tablespoon of dried herb into a bottle containing enough alcohol to cover the herb completely. Allow the mixture to sit for several weeks. Then strain and consume.
You may want to try some of these natural remedies to see which ones work best.
How is basil used for medicinal purposes?
In ancient times, doctors would prescribe basil leaves to treat colds and coughs. Today, basil contains powerful anti-inflammatory properties, making it an ideal remedy for arthritis, asthma, bronchitis, eczema, gout, hay fever, indigestion, migraines, menstrual cramps, sinus infections, sore throats, ulcers, varicose veins, and more.
Basil is also known for its ability to help protect against cancer, heart disease, diabetes, skin conditions, and even aging.
Basil is often referred to as "the herb of grace" because it helps us relax and unwind after stressful situations. It is also said to improve memory and concentration, boost energy levels, increase libido, and enhance athletic performance.
The list goes on and on. Basil is a versatile plant that offers a wide range of benefits for our health and well-being.

How To
How do I know if my herbs have been treated with pesticides?
If you see a pesticide label on your herbs, the plants were sprayed with chemicals before being sold to you.
These chemicals harm human health and could cause cancer or other serious illnesses.
Unfortunately, this practice has become common around the globe. Many countries allow farmers to spray their crops with pesticides without proper regulation.
In order not to harm themselves, consumers should always ask about the source of their produce. If it comes from a farmer near you, it’s safe to assume it was not treated with pesticides.
However, there are still ways to ensure that your herbs are free from harmful chemicals.
However, if you want to ensure that your herbs aren’t contaminated, you can purchase organic herbs directly from the farm.
This way, you won’t need to worry about the safety of your herbs. You can trust that they weren’t exposed to harmful chemicals.
