Is it just me or is everyone else late to the Air Fryer party? I thought it was another kitchen appliance I didn't really need on my counter. Recently, I received an air-fryer as a present. Boy was I mistaken! Air fryers are great for making easy recipes, like these Air Fryer Chicken Nuggets. It's super easy to do, I have control over the ingredients and I get 2 dozen chicken nuggets at half the price of a fast-food restaurant. #winning!
What you'll need to make Air Fryer Chicken Nuggets
You only need a few simple ingredients to make these nuggets.
- Chicken - Since I am a chicken breast lover, I use a skinless and boneless chicken breast to make my nuggets. You can use skinless and boneless chicken thighs. However, I haven't tried it yet with chicken thighs so the cooking time may differ.
- All-Purpose Flour -- A thin coating of flour will help the buttermilk adhere to the chicken.
- Buttermilk- Thick buttermilk helps to keep the chicken moist & tender, as well as helping the breadcrumbs stick to the nuggets.
- Breadcrumbs -- Of course, a nugget of chicken wouldn't exist without the iconic golden brown coating. We use plain, regular breadcrumbs to season them as we please.
- Oil & Spices - Use a little cooking oil to crisp the breadcrumbs and brown them evenly. A simple spice mixture is used to flavor the chicken.
Buttermilk Alternatives
Buttermilk is often used as an ingredient in baked or fried chicken recipes. However, it's not always available and can be expensive. Here are some alternatives to buttermilk:
- Mix 1 cup milk with 1 tablespoon of lemon or vinegar juice Stir the mixture and allow it to sit for 10 mins. Use buttermilk in recipes instead.
- Greek Yogurt- Plain greek yoghurt, like buttermilk is a cultured dairy product that helps keep the nuggets moist and tender. We used this in our baked chicken nuggets and they came out great! Add 1/3 cup greek yoghurt, 1/8 teaspoon salt and 3 Tbsp water to a small bowl. Stir until smooth but thick enough to cover the chicken. Use buttermilk in the recipe instead.
Buttermilk is the best alternative. If you have any on hand, use it instead.
Tips for Success with Recipes
- Separately, add the oil and spices separately to the breadcrumbs. Mix the spices into the breadcrumbs, add the oil, and then combine. The spices will be distributed evenly.
- To add the breading, turn the chicken nuggets over and press them into the mixture of breadcrumbs. Make sure they are coated completely evenly.
- Pre-heat the air fryer. Preheating the air fryer is similar to preheating the oven. This will ensure that the nuggets cook evenly and are crispy on the exterior.
- Do not overcrowd the basket. Spread the nuggets evenly so that hot air can circulate. You can cook in two batches, if necessary.
How to Heat Air Fryer Chicken Nuggets
Air fryers are the best option to heat up leftover chicken nuggets to keep their texture and taste. Air fryer: Preheat to 375degF. Place the nuggets into the basket in one layer. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, or until they are heated through.
What to serve with chicken nuggets
What is a nugget of chicken without a delicious dipping sauce? Here are a few of our favorites.
- Honey Mustard sauce
- Homemade BBQ sauce
- Mayo Ketchup
- Sweet and sour sauce
- Comeback sauce
If you want to serve these nuggets with a variety of side dishes, we recommend our Oven Baked steak fries, homemade mac and cheese, sauteed vegetables, or pasta salad!

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between "regular" and smoked paprika powder?
Regular Paprika Powder (Piment d'Espelette) is an essential ingredient for our recipes. We use it for its intense flavor and color. It's also used as a spice and seasoning agent. Smoked Paprika Powder (Paprika Chorizo) adds a smoky taste and aroma to dishes. Both types of Paprika Powder come from Spain, where they grow the best peppers in the world.
Smoked Paprika Powder (Chorizo Paprika) is made from red peppers, which are dried slowly in special ovens. This gives them a rich flavor. They are then ground and mixed with salt, garlic, and spices.
Regular Paprika Powder (Espelette Paprika) is made by grinding green bell peppers without additives.
What herb heals all wounds?
The answer to this question varies depending on the type and severity of the wound.
The herb comfrey (also known as knitbone) has long been used for its healing properties, particularly for skin injuries such as cuts and bruises.
Studies suggest that comfrey contains allantoin, which helps speed up healing. Other herbs commonly used for healing wounds include calendula, plantain, and yarrow. These herbs help to reduce inflammation, stop bleeding and speed up the skin's healing process.
In addition to herbs, honey has also been found to have powerful antimicrobial properties that can help prevent wound infection.
Herbs for wound care is an age-old practice that continues to be used today. However, herbs should not replace medical treatment, and always consult your doctor before using herbs for healing. With the right herbs, you can give your body the support it needs to heal naturally.
Why do some love coriander and others don't?
Some people hate coriander, while others love it. But why?
Coriander is an herb that grows in warm climates throughout the world. It is native to both North America and Europe.
The leaves of the plant are used in cooking and can also be found in condiments such as salad dressings and dips. When added to food, coriander provides a spicy flavor.
Many people love its taste because it adds a fresh flavor to dishes without overpowering them. Others dislike the smell and taste of coriander because they find it too strong.
But there is more to coriander than meets the eye. There are two types of coriander – sweet and hot. Sweet coriander is milder and sweeter tasting compared to hot coriander.
Sweet coriander is usually grown for its seeds, often called cilantro. This type of coriander is easy to grow and is very low maintenance.
Hot coriander is most commonly used in Indian cuisine. Hot coriander gives a rich flavor to curries and sauces, making it popular among Indians.
Some people say that hot coriander tastes better than sweet coriander. However, the opposite is true for those who prefer sweet coriander.
There are many reasons why people enjoy different varieties of coriander. For example, one person may love the taste of coriander, while another enjoys the aroma.
Whether you like sweet or hot coriander, you might be surprised to learn that you can buy both types of coriander online.
What is the difference between basil and oregano?
Both of these herbs belong to the Lamiaceae family. They share similar flavors, but the differences are obvious.
Oregano is more pungent than basil. It also adds an extra layer of flavor to foods.
Basil leaves are smaller than oregano leaves. They are also softer and less aromatic.
The two herbs are often used interchangeably. Although they are quite similar, each has its distinctive qualities.

How To
What to look for in herbs?
Herbs contain natural compounds that may help treat various conditions. In addition, herbal remedies may provide relief when used along with conventional treatments.
Herbal remedies include teas, capsules, tablets, ointments, creams, lotions, oils, and topical applications. Some of these products are meant to be taken internally, while others are applied externally.
The most common uses of herbal remedies include relieving minor aches and pains, treating cold symptoms, reducing fever, controlling coughs and sore throats, easing digestion problems, soothing skin irritations, alleviating menstrual cramps, and providing general health benefits.
When buying herbs, look for the following:
- Freshly picked plants. Avoid dried herbs unless they've been stored in a cool place. If possible, buy herbs directly from farmers' markets.
- Pure extracts. These are made by extracting the active ingredients from herbs using alcohol or water. Look for 100% pure extractions.
- Certified organic herbs. Organic herbs must meet strict standards set forth by the USDA.
- Natural flavors. Many herbs have strong scents that can overwhelm other foods. Adding flavorings such as vanilla, almond, or orange helps mask their smell.
- Potency. The amount of active ingredient per unit weight varies depending on the type of herb.
- Packaging. When purchasing herbs, check the packaging to ensure that it's clean and free of chemicals.
