Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I choose organic?
Conventional agriculture has been linked with many health problems including asthma, allergies. When buying food, you must make wise choices.
The Environmental Working Group (EWG), offers these tips to help you choose "cleaner" foods:
Always purchase organic fruits, vegetables and other products whenever possible.
USDA organic labels can be found on meat, poultry (eggs, eggs), milk, cheese and yogurt as well.
Avoid processed foods that are labeled "natural" or "no added ingredients."
Be sure to read all ingredient labels. It is possible to add an ingredient during processing if it isn't already listed.
Frozen and canned meats should be preferred to fresh. Many frozen and canned foods contain less nutrients, like high fructose Corn Syrup.
Is organic food healthier?
There are two types: foods that we grow and those that we purchase from others. Of course, there are exceptions to both categories, but for the most part, the answer to your question is yes. Organic food is healthier since it doesn't include any harmful chemicals.
You can find organic foods in supermarkets across North America. Many grocery stores now stock organic food. This makes it easier to shop organic.
Organic food is also better tasting and more nutritious because it contains higher levels of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Organics are often grown without pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. This means that they do not pollute the soil and water sources.
The USDA regulates organic farming practices and requires farmers to follow strict guidelines to ensure that organic produce is safe to eat. There are more than 30 million acres of US farmland that have been certified organic.
As an added benefit, organic food is often much cheaper than conventional food. Customers pay less for the same amount in calories, protein and nutrients. Organic farms can charge lower prices for their crops since they aren't required to pay for expensive chemical inputs such as insecticides or fungicides.
According to the Environmental Working Group organic food is 10 percent cheaper per pound than conventionally manufactured food. If you care about the health of yourself and your family, consider switching to organic food.
Organic food has become a popular alternative to standard American diets. Many people believe that organic food can only be found in specialty markets or gourmet restaurants. This is false. Organic food is readily available at regular grocery stores all across the United States.
Organic food sales have increased significantly in recent years. In the US, organic food sales reached $43Billion in 2012, an increase of $21Billion in 2007.
What are organic products that can be used on the skin?
Organic skincare products are made without synthetic chemicals such as parabens, phthalates, mineral oil, petrolatum, petroleum jelly, propylene glycol, sodium lauryl sulphate, talc, triclosan, titanium dioxide, triethanolamine, vitamin A palmitate, etc.
Organic skincare products do not contain artificial colours, fragrances or preservatives.
They are designed to promote healthy skin, prevent premature wrinkles, heal injuries after they happen, and support overall wellbeing.

What is organic meat exactly?
Organic meat refers to real food grown without the use artificial fertilizers, pesticides, or hormones. Organic meat also indicates that animals were not fed genetically modified food. This makes it safe for human consumption because there aren't any harmful chemicals in the meat.
Organic meats are also better for our environment. When we eat organic foods, we reduce the pollution in landfills, rivers, lakes, etc. Organic farmers generally don't use toxic chemicals that kill birds and insects. We help to protect wildlife.
It is best to buy organic meats locally as much as possible. Local buying helps to keep money in the community, rather than moving out of state. Local businesses often pass savings on to customers who shop locally. Shopping locally helps to keep American workers employed, as opposed to sending them overseas.

How To
Five Reasons to Purchase Organic Products
Organic foods are grown without pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. They contain no genetically modified or irradiated food ingredients. They do not use industrial solvents or sewage effluent in their production. During its growing cycle, the food's natural environment will be protected from contamination. It is free from artificial additives and preservatives. There are no hormones and antibiotics used. They are also produced in conditions that enable them to preserve their nutritional value, freshness, and quality for longer periods.
- Health benefits. Nonorganic produce is more chemically-laden than organic. It's therefore less likely that it will cause allergies and other sensitivities. You also consume fewer toxic substances and carcinogens.
- Eco-friendliness. Produce grown without pesticides and synthetic fertilizer requires very little water. Organic farms are typically located far away form areas of high pollution and where conventional growth is difficult because it requires so much effort. This helps reduce pollution.
- Sustainability. Organic farming relies on soil fertility rather than chemical fertilizers; this results in healthier soils with higher levels of organic matter. Soil health improves when farmers rotate crops and leave land fallow periodically. Farm animals develop strong immune systems when they eat only grasses/grains raised without adding hormones or antibiotics.
- Taste. The taste of conventional fruits and veggies is often bland. This is because they are picked at the peak of ripeness. They then get shipped long distances to their destination. Because it was picked while still unripe, organic produce is richer and more flavorful.
- Nutrition. GMOs, BPA, and other harmful chemicals are often found in conventional processed foods. If you want to avoid these, stick to whole foods such as meat, eggs, fish, nuts, seeds, beans, fruit, veggies, and herbs.
