As consumers become more aware of the origins of their food, many have turned to organic animal products. The USDA mandates that chicken labeled as organic must be raised in compliance with guidelines that also require that it be natural, antibiotic-free, farm-raised and have access to the outdoors.
They must also be fed a diet of organic feed and have at least one square foot of space per bird. The result is chicken that has more nutritional value and less saturated fat.
Versatility
A versatile person is able to adapt to different situations and tasks. This quality is important in both the workplace and the kitchen. Organic chicken is a versatile food that can be used with a variety of spices and accompaniments. It is also a healthier option than other meats.
Consumers choose chicken because it is easy to prepare and tastes good. However, it is also important to purchase organic chicken to ensure that the birds were treated humanely while they were alive. This will help reform unethical practices in the poultry industry and contribute to a healthier planet.
To qualify as organic, chickens must be fed certified organic grains that are grown without any pesticides or chemical fertilizers. They must also be raised in clean housing and have access to the outdoors. In addition, it is against the law for farmers to give antibiotics or hormones to their chickens. These standards are important to consumers who care about the environment, animal welfare and health.
Complements a variety of spices
In addition to being healthier, organic chicken is also a wiser choice from an animal welfare standpoint. The United States Department of Agriculture mandates that chicken labeled organic must be fed only organic feed, have access to the outdoors and not be given growth-promoting antibiotics. However, the mental image most consumers have of bucolic farm life and humane treatment of chickens doesn't always match reality.
Trader Joe's organic chicken, for example, is sold for $2.69 per pound, nearly twice the price of non-organic chicken. However, the extra cost is worth it if you're concerned about GMOs, antibiotics and the conditions under which chicken is raised. Additionally, selecting a locally grown organic chicken from your local farmers market reduces the impact on the environment, since transporting meat requires energy. Moreover, local farmers are often able to provide you with more specific information about their farming methods, including whether their chicken is free range or cage free.
Creates a symphony of flavors
While it's easy for consumers to distinguish organic milk from regular, and even grass-fed beef from grain-fed, connoisseurs can be a bit more discerning when it comes to poultry. That's because it's more difficult to discern the difference in taste between conventional and organic chicken.
Organic chickens are air chilled for food safety and have no added water, resulting in tender meat with a more concentrated flavor. When cooked properly, over low heat with the right spices and seasonings, organic chicken can be exquisite.
That's what Jordan Platts of Orlando, Florida, discovered when he began buying organic chicken six months ago after watching some documentaries. Now he says it's a priority and "feels like the right thing to do." The extra cost is worth the heightened quality.
Perfect for parties
For those who prefer to cook whole chickens, we suggest choosing an organic, antibiotic free, cage-free, air-chilled bird. This will give you the best quality chicken with a meatier, more flavorful breast and wing.
However, be mindful that the organic label does not necessarily mean a better bird or a humane experience for its life or death. It simply signals that the chickens have been fed an organic diet, which often (but not always) translates into better farming practices.
The best place to buy bulk organic chicken is from a company that carries high-quality meats like Palatedirect. Their chicken is certified organic, pasture raised, no hormones, and no antibiotics. They also offer a variety of cuts that you’ll be hard-pressed to find at the grocery store. You can check out their full selection of chicken here. Or if you want to skip the hassle of meal-planning, consider purchasing one of their organic chicken bundles here.

What are organic fruits and vegetables?
Organic foods are free of pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. Organic foods also have more nutrients such as vitamins C, E and K plus omega-3 fatty acid. Organic food is better for the earth and our bodies because of these healthy ingredients.

Many organic products are not associated with produce. They include dairy and meat, poultry, eggs baked goods, pet food, household cleaning supplies, and personal care products.
The USDA defines organic as crops grown in accordance with strict federal regulations. Non-organic methods cannot be used by farmers to grow these foods. However, they may use approved natural pest control methods, such as crop rotation and cover cropping, and animal feed made from organic materials.
Further, the farmer must be careful about the amount of pesticide and fertilizer he uses in the growing season. GMOs, artificial growthhormones, synthetic insecticides, and synthetic fertilizers cannot be used by farmers.
The requirements for organic fruits and vegetables are met if they are labeled 100 percent organic. Some farms don't label their products 100% organic, as it could confuse consumers. Instead, they will label the product as "made from organic ingredients". "

When buying chicken, make sure it comes only from chickens fed 100% organic feed and never given antibiotics. Omnivore chickens eat both animals and plants. Omnivorous chickens possess a digestive tract made up of a crop.
Buy only dairy products from cows that have been fed organically grown feed. Dairy cows have four stomach compartments, just like ruminants. The fourth stomach compartment is the udder.
