If you've been paying attention for any time, you probably already know the answer to this question. But here's the rub, organic food is becoming more popular while conventional food continues to fall out of favour.
The reason why organic foods continue to rise in popularity is that they are healthier for us. In addition to being safer for our health, organic products also help the environment by reducing pollution and waste.
There are two sides to the coin. Organic produce is more difficult to grow and takes more resources. Organic food can be more expensive than its nonorganic counterpart.
Organic meats can be more expensive that those from conventionally raised animals. But, you can reduce the cost of organic meats without compromising quality.
Buy local to save money. Locally grown fruits and veggies help to lower prices because farmers get incentives to grow good crops.
You can also look for deals to reduce costs. Many organic products can be purchased at a discount.
You can also save money by eating less meat. Because of the amount of feed required to raise livestock, meat production can become expensive.
While there are many reasons organic food is better for our bodies as well as the planet, we must not forget the cost.

How To
How to Buy Organic Meat Even on a Limited Budget
In this post I'll share some tips and techniques for buying organic meat that won't break the bank.
Here are my tips for finding cheap organic meats. I'll also tell you how much each pound costs. You will be able to make the most of what you have purchased.
It doesn't take a lot to eat healthy. Sometimes you need to be creative in order to save money and still eat healthy. Here's my list of ways to keep your food costs down while enjoying organic meat's benefits.
- Buy bulk food at wholesale clubs. Sams Club and Costco both offer great options for buying bulk foods like pork chops and chicken breasts. These stores often offer discounts on large quantities of meat, up to 50 pounds, if you are lucky enough to be near one. This ensures that meat is not wasted. If you buy it in bulk you can freeze it so it lasts more.
- Shop around online - Tons of websites sell meat at discounted prices. Amazon, for example, offers Prime Pantry, a weekly deal that includes free shipping on orders greater than $35 There are discounts on roasts, ground beef and lamb steaks as well as pork loins. It is easy to browse their website and check out what is on offer at different times.
- Find a local farmer - Local farmers usually charge less than big box retailers because they do not pay considerable fees to stock their shelves. They also know what their animals ate and drink so they can tell exactly what is inside.
- Look for meat cuts that are leanest - Lean meat is generally cheaper to cook than fatty meat. You should always look for the best cuts. The most common ones are sirloin steak, tenderloin roast, top round steak, and flank steak. These cuts are high in protein and low in fat.
- Explore new recipes. Don't be afraid of trying new things. It's possible to reduce grocery expenses by cooking new recipes using ingredients you've never tried before. You'll be surprised at how many delicious dishes can you create using fresh tomatoes.
- Make your leftovers creative - You can make sandwiches, soups, casseroles, and other dishes with leftover meat or poultry. Remaining meat can be used for quick lunches or dinners.
That's it! These are my top tips for how to get organic meat on a tight budget. Are there any other tips you can share? Any other suggestions?
