Frequently Asked Questions
How do you know if your food is organic?
Ask any chef and he will tell you that fresh ingredients are the most important thing. This is because eating well makes us feel better.
The same applies to our food. When we buy organics, we know exactly where it came from and how it was grown. We also know that it didn't have any harmful chemicals.
Organic food does not contain synthetic pesticides, fertilers, hormones or antibiotics. These substances are not allowed for organic farmers.
Organic farming doesn't have to be difficult. There are many methods to safely grow them.
Many people refer to organic agriculture as sustainable agriculture. It is a less resource-intensive alternative to conventional farming, but still provides enough nutrients to sustain life.
Crop rotation, crop rotation, cover cropping and composting manure are all organic farming methods. These techniques reduce soil erosion and increase water quality.
They also reduce chemical pollution of waterways. Local farms can be found in cities that raise organic produce.
There are two types certified programs for organic products. The USDA National Organic Program certifies the one while the independent certifying agency certifies the other. Both require strict adherence of organic standards.
USDA seals and O Seals are symbols that indicate organic certification.
What are the benefits of organic products for skin?
Organic skincare products are made without synthetic chemicals such as parabens, phthalates, mineral oil, petrolatum, petroleum jelly, propylene glycol, sodium lauryl sulphate, talc, triclosan, titanium dioxide, triethanolamine, vitamin A palmitate, etc.
Organic skincare products can be free of artificial colours and fragrances as well as preservatives, emulsifiers GMOs, Petrochemicals, animal testing (except for cosmetics tested on animals), pesticides hormones, antibiotics, heavy metallics and other contaminants.
They also help to preserve healthy skin and prevent premature aging.
Some standard terms you may see when shopping for organic products:
- Paraben Free is a grouping of chemicals that are used to maintain certain cosmetic products safe, but can be toxic when consumed in large quantities.
- Fragrance-Free means that the product doesn't contain any essential oils or fragrances.
- Cruelty-Free - No animals were harmed during the manufacturing process.
- Natural Ingredients are ingredients that have been naturally extracted from plants or animals.
- Vegan/Vegetarian – The ingredients can either be vegetarian or vegan.
- Gluten-Free is a label that indicates that no gluten was added to the product.
- Non-Toxic: The product does not contain toxic substances, carcinogens or any other harmful compounds that could cause harm to your health.
- Biodegradable means that the product can be thrown away as it will become harmless components.
- Pesticide-Free: No pesticides used during growing or harvesting.
- GMO-Free means that no ingredient in the product contains genetically modified organisms.
- Certified Organic is a certification that the ingredients of the recipe were grown using sustainable methods.
What's the difference?
Organic food does not contain pesticides, chemical fertilisers, sewage waste, irradiation, genetic modification. Organic farming practices promote soil health, water quality and animal welfare.
Inorganic foods are grown with pesticides, chemical fertilizers, and sewage sludge. Radiation is used to treat irradiated food; biological engineering techniques are used to create genetically modified organisms (GMO).
"Organic" and "natural" are often interchangeable. Natural does not necessarily have to mean organic. Natural products can also be labeled with synthetic ingredients.
Organic produce is typically more nutritious than conventional produce because the soil contains fewer harmful chemicals and pesticides. Organic farmers don't use any artificial fertilizers, hormones or antibiotics.

How To
What you should know about organic food
Organic foods are produced from plants and animals that have been grown without the use of pesticides, chemical fertilizers or other additives. They can be produced without the use of genetic engineering or ionizing radiation. No artificial colourings, flavour enhancers, preservatives, or colourings must be used in the food. It must not contain genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
When Justus von Liebig, a chemical chemist, coined "organic", which means "life-giving," to describe the properties in manure, the term "organic" was used for the first time. Most people associate organic with food production. Organic refers to products that only contain naturally occurring substances, such as carbohydrates, proteins, and minerals, which are all found in nature.
The global consumption of organic products has increased dramatically over the past decade. According to recent statistics, about 50% of the global population consumes at-least one organic product every day. This number increases constantly and is expected to reach 70%, 80%, and 90% by 2020.
Organic products are preferred for many reasons. Some consumers prefer organic products for the taste. Other people prefer them because organic produce is more nutritious. Still others believe organic farming is better for the environment. Non-organic products are often chosen because they do not pose ethical issues regarding the treatment of farm workers or animals.
While organic food is generally more expensive than traditional foods, prices do vary depending upon where you live. The price of organic food is affected by several factors. One factor is the availability land suitable for organic agricultural. Another is the cost of inputs and labour needed for organic cultivation. Other factors include transportation costs, marketing costs, and taxes. The average European price for organic food is 10% lower than the regular price.
Here are some key differences between organic and traditional foods.
