Frequently Asked Questions
Organic foods are better for us.
According to the Environmental Working Group, organic vegetables and fruits had half the amount of pesticides as non-organic. They discovered that organic apples contained eight more pesticides per gram than non-organic ones, while organic strawberries contained four times as many pesticides.
Some studies also suggest that eating organic food helps reduce your exposure to toxic metals, such as mercury and lead. For instance, one study showed that children who consumed organic meat had 33% less blood lead levels than children who did not. Another study concluded that pregnant women should avoid consuming conventional fish due to high levels of mercury.
Overall, organic food does seem to be safer than its non-organic counterpart. Experts recommend that fresh produce and vegetables be used whenever possible to reduce your chances of developing cancer.
What is the difference in organic and non-organic foods?
Organic food does not contain pesticides, chemical fertilisers, sewage waste, irradiation, genetic modification. Organic farming practices promote soil health, water quality and animal welfare.
Inorganic foods can be grown using pesticides, chemical fertilizers and sewage sludge. Radiated foods can be treated with radiation. Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are created by biological engineering techniques.
The term "natural", often used interchangeably to mean "organic," is frequently used. But, "natural" does not necessarily refer to organic. You may also find products that are labeled as "natural", which could contain synthetic ingredients.
Organic produce is more nutritious than traditional produce due to the fact that it contains less harmful chemicals and pesticides. Organic farmers do not use pesticides, artificial fertilizers, hormones, anti-biotics, and other harmful chemicals.
What is organic meat exactly?
Organic meat means real food, grown without artificial fertilizers or pesticides. It also means that the animals weren't fed any genetically modified feed. It is safe to eat because it doesn't contain any harmful chemicals.
Organic meats are good for the environment. When we eat organic foods, we reduce the pollution in landfills, rivers, lakes, etc. We also help protect wildlife because organic farmers usually do not use toxic chemicals that kill insects and birds.
The best way to ensure that you eat healthy organic meats is to buy them locally whenever possible. Local purchasing helps keep money local, not out of the state. Local businesses often pass savings on to customers who shop locally. Local businesses are more likely to keep jobs here than export them abroad.
Why should organic be my first choice?
Conventional agriculture has been linked with many health problems including asthma, allergies. Healthy choices must be made when purchasing food.
Here are some tips from the Environmental Working Group (EWG).
Always buy organic fruits & vegetables.
USDA organic labels are required for meat, poultry, eggs and milk.
Avoid processed foods that claim to be "natural" and "no additives."
Carefully review ingredient lists. If an ingredient isn't listed, it may be added during processing.
You should choose fresh meats rather than frozen or canned. Frozen and canned foods often contain less nutrient-rich ingredients like high fructose corn syrup.

You don't need to spend a lot of money to eat healthily. Sometimes you need to be creative in order to save money and still eat healthy. Here are some ways you can cut down on food expenses while still getting the best from organic meat.
- Wholesale clubs - Sams Club, Costco, and Sams Club offer great deals on bulk foods like chicken breasts. You may be able to get large quantities of meat for as low as 50 pounds if your home is near one of these stores. You won't have to waste meat. It's also possible to freeze meat purchased in bulk so that it lasts longer.
- Online shopping is a great way to find meat at a discounted price. Amazon, for example, offers Prime Pantry, a weekly deal that includes free shipping on orders greater than $35 They offer discounts for beef roasts and ground beef as well as lamb steaks, lamb steaks, pork loins, and other items. You can easily browse their website to see what is available at different times.
- Local farmers will usually be cheaper than big-box retailers since they don't pay large fees to stock their shelves. Because they know exactly the diets and drinks of their animals, local farmers can provide a better understanding of what's inside.
- Look for lean cuts of meat. Fatty meats are generally more expensive to cook. The leanest cuts are therefore preferred. The most popular cuts are flank steak, sirloin steak and tenderloin roast. These cuts have high protein and low fat.
- Explore new recipes. Don't be afraid of trying new things. Cooking with new ingredients is one of the best ways to cut your grocery bills. You may be surprised by how many delicious dishes you can come up with using fresh tomatoes, onions, garlic, olive oil, and spices.
