Additionally, the farmer must adhere to guidelines concerning the amount of fertilizer and pesticide that he uses during the growing seasons and how he rotates his fields among various crops. GMOs, synthetic insecicides, artificial growth hormones or synthetic fertilizers can't be used by farmers.

The requirements for organic fruits and vegetables are met if they are labeled 100 percent organic. But not all farms will label their products 100% organic. That would confuse consumers. Instead, they will say that their product is "made with organic components". "

The Environmental Working Group's most recent report on pesticide residues found in food shows that organic fruits and veggies had almost half the pesticide content of non-organic. They discovered that organic apples contained eight more pesticides per gram than non-organic ones, while organic strawberries contained four times as many pesticides.

Research has also suggested that organic food may reduce mercury and lead exposure. One study revealed that children who ate organic meat had 33 per cent lower blood lead levels than their counterparts who didn't eat organic meats. Another study concluded conventional fish consumption should be stopped by pregnant women because it contains high levels of mercury.

This post will share some tips and tricks to help you buy organic meat without breaking the bank.

Here are my tips for finding cheap organic meats. I'll also tell you how much each pound costs. You will learn how to make the best out of what you purchase.

To eat well, you don't have to spend a lot. Sometimes, it takes a bit of creativity to save money while eating well. Here's my list of ways to keep your food costs down while enjoying organic meat's benefits.

  1. Shop at wholesale clubs - Sams Club or Costco are great places to buy bulk foods such as chicken breasts and pork chops. If you are fortunate enough to live near one, you may be able get discounts up to 50 lbs on large quantities. This way, you won't waste any meat. Also, if you buy in bulk, it can be frozen so it lasts for longer.
  2. Shop around online - Tons of websites sell meat at discounted prices. Amazon offers Prime Pantry, a weekly deal with free shipping on orders above $35. There are also discounts on lamb steaks (lamb steaks), ground beef, pork loins, and beef roasts. You can browse their website and view what's on sale at different times.
  3. Locate a farmer in your area. Local farmers are usually cheaper than big box retailers as they don’t pay high stocking fees. Local farmers also know exactly what their animals have eaten and drank so they can determine what's in their bodies.
  4. You should look for the leanest cuts of meat. Lean meat is typically cheaper to cook than fatty. The leanest cuts are therefore preferred. The most common ones are sirloin steak, tenderloin roast, top round steak, and flank steak. These cuts are low in fat and high-protein.
  5. Explore new recipes. Don't be afraid of trying new things. Cooking with new ingredients is one of the best ways to cut your grocery bills. You might be amazed at the delicious recipes you can create with fresh tomatoes and onions, garlic, olive oils, and spices.
  6. You can be creative with leftovers. If you have leftover poultry or meat, you can use them to make sandwiches, soups and casseroles. Leftover meat is perfect for making quick lunches or dinners.
