All parts of an animal must be organically fed if the cow is going to be labelled '100% organic.'
Buy chicken from only organic chickens that have been fed 100% organic food and are not given antibiotics. Chickens are omnivores. This means they can eat both plant and animal food. Omnivorous chickens have a digestive system that includes a crop (proventriculus), gizzard and small intestine.
It is important to ensure that dairy products are from cows that were fed 100% organic feed. Just like ruminants, dairy cows also have four stomachs. The fourth stomach compartment, the udder, is where milk comes from.
When purchasing other types of livestock, check the label to see what percentage of the diet the animals were fed. For example, pork may be labelled '95% organic.' This means 95 percent of the pig's feed came from organic sources.

I will give you tips on where to find cheap organic meats and how much they cost per pound. You will learn how to make the best out of what you purchase.
It doesn't take a lot to eat healthy. Sometimes, you have to use your creativity to save money while still eating well. Here are my top tips for keeping food costs down and still enjoying the many benefits of organic meat.
- Shop at wholesale clubs - Sams Club or Costco are great places to buy bulk foods such as chicken breasts and pork chops. You may be able to get large quantities of meat for as low as 50 pounds if your home is near one of these stores. This will ensure that you don't waste any meat. Also, if you buy in bulk, it can be frozen so it lasts for longer.
- Shop around online - Tons of websites sell meat at discounted prices. Amazon, for example, offers Prime Pantry, a weekly deal that includes free shipping on orders greater than $35 There are also discounts on lamb steaks (lamb steaks), ground beef, pork loins, and beef roasts. It's simple to visit their website to view the latest offerings at different times.
- Look for a local farmer. They usually charge less than big-box retailers, as they don't have to pay large stocking fees. They also know what their animals ate and drink so they can tell exactly what is inside.
