Why is organic foods important?
Our health is dependent on organic produce. It's the best method to ensure you eat healthy foods. It's healthier for us as well as more environmentally-friendly because it doesn’t rely on pesticides, fertilizers, or other chemicals.

Are organic foods healthier?
The Environmental Working Group's most recent report on pesticide residues found in food shows that organic fruits and veggies had almost half the pesticide content of non-organic. The Environmental Working Group found that organic apples contained eight-times less pesticides than other non-organic fruits, and organic strawberries had fourfold more than their conventional counterparts.
Some studies also suggest that eating organic food helps reduce your exposure to toxic metals, such as mercury and lead. One study revealed that children who ate organic meat had 33 per cent lower blood lead levels than their counterparts who didn't eat organic meats. Another study concluded traditional fish should not be consumed by pregnant women, due to high mercury levels.
Overall, organic food does seem to be safer than its non-organic counterpart. Experts recommend that fresh produce and vegetables be used whenever possible to reduce your chances of developing cancer.

Here are some tips and tricks that will help you save money on organic meat.
I'll give you some tips about where to find organic meats at a low price and how much it costs per pound. Learn how to get maximum value from the products you buy.
For healthy eating, you don’t have to spend a lot. Sometimes, it takes a bit of creativity to save money while eating well. Here's my list of ways to keep your food costs down while enjoying organic meat's benefits.
- Wholesale clubs - Sams Club and Costco are great places for bulk food like chicken breasts or pork chops. These stores often offer discounts on large quantities of meat, up to 50 pounds, if you are lucky enough to be near one. You won't have to waste meat. Also, if you buy in bulk, it can be frozen so it lasts for longer.
- Shop around online - Tons of websites sell meat at discounted prices. Amazon offers Prime Pantry, a weekly deal with free shipping on orders above $35. They offer discounts on beef roasts, ground beef, lamb steaks, and pork loins. You can browse their website and view what's on sale at different times.
- Locate a farmer in your area. Local farmers are usually cheaper than big box retailers as they don’t pay high stocking fees. They also know what their animals ate and drink so they can tell exactly what is inside.
- Choose lean cuts of meat - It is usually cheaper to cook lean meat than fatty. The leanest cuts are therefore preferred. The most commonly used cuts include flank steak, tenderloin and top round steaks. These cuts are very low-fat and high in proteins.
