You should only purchase chicken that has been raised organically. It must not have ever been treated with antibiotics. Chickens are omnivores, meaning they eat both plants and animals. Omnivorous chickens have a digestive tract composed of a crop, proventriculus, gizzard, small intestine, large intestine, and anus.
It is important to ensure that dairy products are from cows that were fed 100% organic feed. Just like ruminants, dairy cows also have four stomachs. The fourth stomach, or the udder is where you get milk.
To find out the percent of the feed the animals received when you purchase other types livestock, be sure to read the labels. A label for pork might say "95% organic", which means that 95% of the feed used by the pork came from organic sources.

If you're lucky enough to live near one of these stores, you can often get deals on large quantities of meat (up to 50 pounds). This way, you won't waste any meat. It's also possible to freeze meat purchased in bulk so that it lasts longer.
- Shopping online is easy - There are tons of websites that sell meat at reduced prices. Amazon offers Prime Pantry, a weekly deal with free shipping on orders above $35.
