Frequently Asked Questions

Which organic products are most in demand?

Today, organic food is the fastest growing industry. We've come far from our roots but there is still room for improvement.

Organic products are the future. They are safer and more cost-effective for consumers.

But they tend to be more expensive. The Organic Food Index was created to address this. We wanted to determine which foods are the most popular among shoppers today and whether these trends are changing.

These findings show that organic foods are becoming more popular. Between 2011 and 2012 the number of Americans buying organic food increased nearly 50%.

According to the USDA, organic production increased by 10% last year alone. Currently, organic food accounts for 9% in the U.S. agricultural production.

Organic food is certainly on the rise but consumers are still not able to afford it. The Organic Trade Association (OTA) reports that organic food retail prices average almost double the price of conventional foods.

Despite this, organic food is growing at a faster rate than any other food segment. If you examine the data closely, you will see that organic foods have grown steadily in consumption since 2009.

According to OTA the volume of organic products sold at supermarkets grew by 14% in 2010 and 2011.

This is because consumers are looking for healthier foods. Organic food sales have been increasing in all age groups.

However, the younger generation is leading the charge in choosing organic food. Millennials have twice the likelihood of buying organic food as baby boomers. Young adults below 35 years of age account for 25%.

What should I be looking out for when shopping organic products

USDA-certified organic label are desirable. This guarantees that the product meets certain USDA standards. Look for the "USDA Organic" seal on packages, boxes, cartons, cans, and jars.

When shopping for meat ensure it comes only from cows that are fed 100% organic feed. Ruminants are cattle that chew their cud. Ruminant cattle have 4 stomach compartments: Rumen, reticulum and omasum. If a cow is to be labeled organically, all parts must be organically fed.

Make sure you only buy chicken from chicken farms that are fed organically and have never been given antibiotics. Chickens can eat both animal and plant food. Omnivorous chickens possess a digestive tract made up of a crop.

Buy only dairy products from cows that have been fed organically grown feed. Dairy cows have four stomach compartments, just like ruminants. The fourth stomach compartment, the udder, is where milk comes from.

Check the label when purchasing livestock of any other type to find out what percentage was used in the animal's diet. Pork may be labeled "95% Organic" which means that 95 percent of its feed was organic.

Why is organic food important?

Organic produce is important for our health. It's the best way to ensure we eat nutritious foods. It is healthier for us than any pesticides or fertilizers and it is also more eco-friendly.

Organic farming is a natural method of growing crops that uses no harmful chemicals. This results in fewer environmental pollutants and makes organic farming safer. Organic food is a way to help the environment and protect yourself.

Organic food has many benefits that go beyond health. We all know how unhealthy processed foods can make us feel. However, organic fruits & vegetables aren’t treated with chemical sprays. It means that organic fruits and vegetables taste better, last longer, and are brighter.

That's why eating organic matters so much. Organic is healthy for your health and for the environment.

How To

How to Buy Organic Meat Even on a Limited Budget

In this post I'll share some tips and techniques for buying organic meat that won't break the bank.

I will give you tips on where to find cheap organic meats and how much they cost per pound. You'll learn how to get the best from what you buy.

It doesn't take a lot to eat healthy. Sometimes creativity is required to make money while still eating healthy. Here's my list of ways to keep your food costs down while enjoying organic meat's benefits.

  1. Wholesale clubs - Sams Club, Costco, and Sams Club offer great deals on bulk foods like chicken breasts. If you're lucky enough to live near one of these stores, you can often get deals on large quantities of meat (up to 50 pounds). This way, you won't waste any meat. Also, if you buy in bulk, it can be frozen so it lasts for longer.
  2. Online shopping is a great way to find meat at a discounted price. For example, Amazon has a weekly deal called Prime Pantry, which includes free shipping on orders over $35. There are discounts on roasts, ground beef and lamb steaks as well as pork loins. It is easy to browse their website and check out what is on offer at different times.
  3. Local farmers will usually be cheaper than big-box retailers since they don't pay large fees to stock their shelves. Local farmers also know exactly what their animals have eaten and drank so they can determine what's in their bodies.
  4. Choose lean cuts of meat - It is usually cheaper to cook lean meat than fatty. Therefore, choose the leanest cuts. The most commonly used cuts include flank steak, tenderloin and top round steaks. These cuts are low in fat and high-protein.
  5. You don't have to be afraid to try new recipes. You can cut down on your grocery costs by starting to cook with ingredients you don't have before. You may be surprised by how many delicious dishes you can come up with using fresh tomatoes, onions, garlic, olive oil, and spices.
  6. Remaining meat and poultry can be used for sandwiches, salads or soups. It's easy to make quick lunches and dinners with leftover meat.

There you have it! Here are some tips on how you can afford organic meat despite being on a strict budget. Are there any other tips you can share? Have any other tips for me about where to buy cheap meat?
