What are organic products for the skin?

Organic skincare products don't contain any synthetic chemicals such as parabens or phthalates.

  • Gluten-Free: This is when gluten was eliminated from the formulation.
  • Non-Toxic: The product does not contain toxic substances, carcinogens or any other harmful compounds that could cause harm to your health.
  • Biodegradable - The product will eventually be broken down into harmless parts when it is disposed of.
  • Pesticide-Free - No pesticides have been used in the growing and harvesting process.
  • GMO-Free: This means that no product ingredient contains genetically engineered organisms.
  • Certified Organic means that all the ingredients have been grown using methods that protect the soil and water as well as wildlife and farmers.


Organic foods are better for us.

According to the Environmental Working Group's recent report on pesticide residues within foods, organic fruits & vegetables contained nearly half of the pesticides that non-organic varieties. They discovered that organic apples contained eight more pesticides per gram than non-organic ones, while organic strawberries contained four times as many pesticides.

Research has also suggested that organic food may reduce mercury and lead exposure. One study found that organic meats had 33 percent less lead in children than the levels of those who did not eat them. Another study concluded that pregnant women should avoid consuming conventional fish due to high levels of mercury.

Organic food tends to be healthier than nonorganic. Experts recommend that fresh produce and vegetables be used whenever possible to reduce your chances of developing cancer.

What should I be looking out for when shopping organic products

When purchasing meat, ensure it is 100% organic. Cattle are ruminants which means that they chew the cud. Ruminant cattle have 4 stomach compartments: Rumen, reticulum and omasum. If a cow is to be labeled organically, all parts must be organically fed.

Chicken should be only purchased from chickens raised on organic feed, and not given antibiotics. Chickens can eat both animal and plant food. A digestive tract that is omnivorous includes a crop, proventriculus and gizzard. It also contains small intestines, large intestines, and anus.

It is important to ensure that dairy products are from cows that were fed 100% organic feed. Just like ruminants, dairy cows also have four stomachs. The fourth stomach compartment, the udder, is where milk comes from.

When purchasing other types of livestock, check the label to see what percentage of the diet the animals were fed. A label for pork might say "95% organic", which means that 95% of the feed used by the pork came from organic sources.
