Ruminant cattle have four stomach areas: rumen (reticulum), omasum (omasum), and abomasum. All parts of an animal must be organically fed if the cow is going to be labelled '100% organic.'
Chicken should be only purchased from chickens raised on organic feed, and not given antibiotics. Chickens can eat both animal and plant food. The digestive tract of an omnivorous chicken is composed of a crop and proventriculus, gizzard as well as small intestine, large intestinale, and anus.
It is important to ensure that dairy products are from cows that were fed 100% organic feed. Like ruminants and dairy cows, they have four stomach compartments. The fourth stomach compartment is the udder.
You should always check the label before purchasing any other livestock. This will let you know what percentage of the diet was given to the animals. A label for pork might say "95% organic", which means that 95% of the feed used by the pork came from organic sources.

- Wholesale clubs - Sams Club and Costco are great places for bulk food like chicken breasts or pork chops. If you're lucky enough to live near one of these stores, you can often get deals on large quantities of meat (up to 50 pounds). This will ensure that you don't waste any meat. And if you buy it in bulk, you can freeze it, so it lasts longer.
- Shopping online is easy - There are tons of websites that sell meat at reduced prices. Amazon offers Prime Pantry, a weekly deal with free shipping on orders above $35.
