Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between organic food and inorganic?
Organic food is made without chemical fertilizers or pesticides. Organic farming practices improve soil health and water quality as well as animal welfare.
Inorganic foods are produced using chemical fertilizers, pesticides, and sewage effluent. Radiated foods are those that have been exposed to radiation. Genetically modified organisms, or GMOs, are created using biological engineering techniques.
The term "natural" is often used interchangeably with "organic." Natural does not always mean organic. You may also find products that are labeled as "natural", which could contain synthetic ingredients.
Organic produce is often more nutritious than conventional produce, as the soil has fewer pesticides and harmful chemicals. Organic farmers do not use pesticides, artificial fertilizers, hormones, anti-biotics, and other harmful chemicals.
What are the benefits of organic farming?
Organic farming offers farmers a method of growing food that doesn't require the use of chemicals. Farmers don't need to worry that harmful pesticides could harm their crops or animals.
Organic farming also allows for more natural fertilizers. These fertilizers promote healthy plants and decrease the amount of chemicals used.
Organic farming is also beneficial for the environment. Farmers often use composting techniques to recycle nutrients back into the soil. This reduces pollutants and conserves precious resources.
Organic farming can increase crop yields and help the environment. This is because organic agriculture uses less water in the growing season.
Organic farming methods can also result in higher prices for farmers' produce. Consumers who are more informed about the dangers of pesticides or chemical fertilizers will demand healthier food.
This leads to a greater demand for organic food products. Organic farming is becoming more popular because of this.
What are my top priorities when buying organic products
USDA-certified organic labels are recommended. This certification means that the product is certified organic by USDA. You will find the USDA Organic seal on all boxes, cartons and cans.
When buying meat, make sure it is from organically fed cows. Cattle are ruminants. This means they chew the cud. Ruminant cattle have 4 stomach compartments: Rumen, reticulum and omasum. Organic feeding must be done on all organs of the animal in order to get the cow labelled organic 100 percent.
Make sure you only buy chicken from chicken farms that are fed organically and have never been given antibiotics. Chickens are omnivores. This means they can eat both plant and animal food. Omnivorous chickens possess a digestive tract made up of a crop.
You should ensure you only buy dairy products made from milk that has been produced by cows who have been fed 100% organically grown food. Like ruminants and dairy cows, they have four stomach compartments. The fourth stomach compartment, the udder, is where milk comes from.
To find out the percent of the feed the animals received when you purchase other types livestock, be sure to read the labels. A label for pork might say "95% organic", which means that 95% of the feed used by the pork came from organic sources.
Statistics
- As for organic meat, regulations require that animals be raised in living conditions that accommodate their natural behaviours (like the ability to graze on pasture), fed 100% organic feed and forage, and not administered antibiotics or hormones. (usda.gov)
- Nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids were up to 50 percent higher in organic meats and milk than in conventionally raised products.[3] (en.wikipedia.org)
- Brands participating in this challenge are committed to using 100 percent sustainable cotton by 2025.[5] (en.wikipedia.org)
- When packaged products indicate they are “made with organic [specific ingredient or food group],” they contain at least 70% organically produced ingredients. (usda.gov)

How To
What happens to the body when you switch over to organic products
Organic products do not contain synthetic fertilizers or hormones. They are free-range and come from clean water sources. The term "organic" means they do not contain any chemicals or additives. This product is natural and does not contain any harmful substances.
The term "natural", refers only to how food was grown. It's usually used to describe foods not processed into their final form (such as fruits). Natural foods are usually fresher than processed foods, as they haven’t been exposed to heat, radiation, chemical preservatives, or other treatments. Some people think natural does not necessarily mean healthy. Experts aren't sure if there is much to be different between organic and traditional foods. Both types of food have been tested for safety and quality. Organic produce is less likely to contain pesticide residues and pollutants than conventionally grown produce.
Most grocery shops now carry organic options. Check with your local market if you want organic meat, poultry, dairy, eggs, and seafood. Some companies only sell organic products, while others offer separate sections. USDA Certified Organic, Non GMO Project Verified. Biodynamic Association Certified. Rainforest Alliance Certified.
These items should be avoided if you're pregnant or breastfeeding. Pesticides have been shown to harm infants and unborn babies.
