Frequently Asked Questions

What is organic meat?

Organic meat refers to real food grown without the use artificial fertilizers, pesticides, or hormones. It also means that the animals weren't fed any genetically modified feed. Because there are no harmful chemicals in the meat, it is safe for human consumption.

Organic meats are healthier for our environment. Eating organic foods helps reduce pollution in the environment, such as rivers and lakes. We also help protect wildlife because organic farmers usually do not use toxic chemicals that kill insects and birds.

It is best to buy organic meats locally as much as possible. Local shopping helps keep more money in your community than it does out of state. Local businesses often offer discounts to their customers by shopping locally. Shopping locally helps to keep American workers employed, as opposed to sending them overseas.

Are organic foods healthier?

According to the Environmental Working Group's latest report on pesticide residues in foods, organic fruits and vegetables had nearly half the level of pesticides compared with non-organic versions. Organic strawberries contained four times more pesticides that their conventional counterparts, and organic apples contained eight percent less.

Some studies also suggest that eating organic food helps reduce your exposure to toxic metals, such as mercury and lead. A study concluded that children who ate organic meat had 33% lower levels of blood lead than those who didn’t. Another study concluded conventional fish consumption should be stopped by pregnant women because it contains high levels of mercury.

Organic food tends to be healthier than nonorganic. Experts recommend eating fresh fruits and veggies whenever possible to reduce the chance of developing cancer.

What is organic food?

Organic produce can be grown without the use of pesticides or synthetic fertilizers. There is no use of growth hormones and no animal testing. These crops can naturally grow, so no chemicals are used by farmers to combat pests or weeds.

Organic farming practices also maintain soil quality by reducing erosion and conserving water resources. Organic foods are healthier than conventional foods because they have more nutrients. Organic products tend to be higher in fiber and lower fat than conventionally produced foods.

What is an organic food manufacturer?

Organic food producers create products that are grown without pesticides and chemical fertilizers. These foods include fruits and vegetables, grains, as well as dairy products.

Organic food production happens on farms where crops have been naturally nurtured. This includes soil preparation, pest controls, and crop rotation.

Organic products must meet certain criteria established by USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) before they can be considered organic.

These guidelines are designed to ensure consumers have access to safe, healthy and nutritious food.

Organic food offers many health benefits. From lower levels of pesticide residues, heavy metal contamination, to higher nutrient contents and better flavour, organic foods are healthier.

USDA organic products must carry the USDA Certified Organic seal.

This certification means that the product meets standards established by the National Organic Program.

Organic food not only makes us healthier but also helps to protect the environment.

Organic farming methods preserve natural resources, such as water or land. Additionally, organic farming methods help reduce greenhouse gas emission, which can lead to climate change.

Organic agriculture is more sustainable and uses less chemicals.

It improves air quality as harmful gases such nitrates or ammonia are less likely to accumulate in the atmosphere.

There are many forms of organic farming.

Conventional farming refers to the use of synthetic inputs such as pesticides and fertilizers.

Regenerative farming includes compost, cover crops, as well as green manures that improve soil health. It promotes biodiversity.

Agroecology emphasizes sustainable relationships between people and plants.

Permaculture promotes self sufficiency through the creation of systems that imitate nature.

How To

What happens when you switch from conventional products to organic?

Organic products do not contain synthetic fertilizers or hormones. They come only from natural sources of water and free-range animals. The term "organic", which means they don't contain additives or chemicals, refers to their non-containing any. This product was produced by nature and therefore contains no harmful substances.

Natural refers to the way food was grown. It's usually used to describe foods not processed into their final form (such as fruits). Natural foods are often fresher than others because they haven't been treated with heat, radiation, or chemical preservatives. Natural doesn't necessarily have to be healthy, however. Experts say that there aren't many differences between organic and conventional food. Both types of food are tested for safety, quality, and purity. Organic produce has less pesticide residues and pollutant than conventionally grown food.

Most grocery stores offer organic options. Check with your local market if you want organic meat, poultry, dairy, eggs, and seafood. Some companies offer only organic products while others have separate sections. USDA Certified Organic is a non-GMO Project Verified company.

These products should not be consumed if you are pregnant. Unborn babies and infants can be affected by pesticides.
