The results show that organic food is becoming increasingly popular. Between 2011 and 2012, the number of Americans who shop for organic food increased by almost 50%.

According to the USDA, organic production increased by 10% last year alone. Organic food now accounts for 9% of U.S. agricultural output.

Although organic food is gaining popularity, it appears that consumers still have to pay a premium for it. According to the Organic Trade Association OTA, organic food retail prices are about twice those of conventional products.

The organic food sector is growing faster than other segments of the food supply. Looking closely at the data, you'll see that organic food consumption has grown steadily since 2009.

In fact, according to OTA, the volume of organic products sold in supermarkets grew by 14% between 2010 and 2011.

This increase reflects consumer demand for healthier foods, which explains why organic food sales are increasing across all age groups.

Younger generations are choosing organic food more often than older generations. Millennials are twice as likely than baby boomers to buy organic foods. Young adults aged below 35 account for 25%.


Why should I buy organic?

The health risks of conventional agriculture include asthma, allergies and diabetes. It is important to make informed choices about food purchases.

Always buy organic fruits & vegetables.

USDA organic labels can be found on meat, poultry (eggs, eggs), milk, cheese and yogurt as well.

Avoid processed foods marked "natural" or with "no additives."

Be sure to read all ingredient labels. If an ingredient isn't listed, it may be added during processing.

Frozen and canned meats should be preferred to fresh. Many frozen and canned foods contain less nutrients, like high fructose Corn Syrup.

In this post I'll share some tips and techniques for buying organic meat that won't break the bank.

I will give you tips on where to find cheap organic meats and how much they cost per pound. You will learn how to make the best out of what you purchase.

For healthy eating, you don’t have to spend a lot. Sometimes you need to be creative in order to save money and still eat healthy. Here are some ways you can cut down on food expenses while still getting the best from organic meat.

  1. Buy bulk food at wholesale clubs. Sams Club and Costco both offer great options for buying bulk foods like pork chops and chicken breasts. If you're lucky enough to live near one of these stores, you can often get deals on large quantities of meat (up to 50 pounds). This way you won't end up with any leftover meat. You can also freeze the meat if you buy it bulk.
  2. Look online to save money on meat. Amazon offers Prime Pantry, a weekly deal with free shipping on orders above $35. They offer discounts on beef roasts, ground beef, lamb steaks, and pork loins. You can easily browse their website to see what is available at different times.
  3. Look for a local farmer. They usually charge less than big-box retailers, as they don't have to pay large stocking fees. They also know what their animals ate and drink so they can tell exactly what is inside.
  4. Look out for cuts that are the leanest. It's generally less expensive to cook lean meat than fatty. Therefore, choose the leanest cuts. The most popular cuts are flank steak, sirloin steak and tenderloin roast. These cuts are very low-fat and high in proteins.
  5. Explore new recipes. Don't be afraid of trying new things. One of the easiest ways to reduce your grocery bill is to start cooking meals with ingredients you haven't used before. You might be amazed at the delicious recipes you can create with fresh tomatoes and onions, garlic, olive oils, and spices.
  6. Remaining meat and poultry can be used for sandwiches, salads or soups. It's easy to make quick lunches and dinners with leftover meat.
