Organic foods are better for us.
According to the Environmental Working Group's latest report on pesticide residues in foods, organic fruits and vegetables had nearly half the level of pesticides compared with non-organic versions. Organic apples had eight times less pesticides than nonorganic apples. However, organic strawberries had four times the amount of pesticides as their conventional counterparts.
Studies have also shown that organic foods reduce the risk of mercury and lead poisoning. One study revealed that children who ate organic meat had 33 per cent lower blood lead levels than their counterparts who didn't eat organic meats. Another study concluded that pregnant women should avoid consuming conventional fish due to high levels of mercury.
Organic food is generally safer than non-organic. Experts recommend fresh vegetables and fruits whenever possible in order to reduce the risk of getting cancer.
What should I look out for when buying organic products?
USDA-certified organic labels should be sought. This certifies that the product has met certain standards set by USDA. On packages, boxes, cartons or cans, look out for the USDA Organic seal.
When shopping for meat ensure it comes only from cows that are fed 100% organic feed. Cattle are ruminants. They eat the whole animal. Ruminant cattle can be found with four stomach compartments: the rumen, the reticulum, omasum, abomasum and omasum. Organic feeding must be done on all organs of the animal in order to get the cow labelled organic 100 percent.
You should only purchase chicken that has been raised organically. It must not have ever been treated with antibiotics. Chickens can eat both animal and plant food. Omnivorous chickens have a digestive system that includes a crop (proventriculus), gizzard and small intestine.
When buying dairy products, ensure they come from cows fed 100% organically grown feed. Dairy cows have four stomach compartments, just like ruminants. The fourth stomach compartment, the udder, is where milk comes from.
When purchasing other types of livestock, check the label to see what percentage of the diet the animals were fed. Pork may be labeled "95% Organic" which means that 95 percent of its feed was organic.

In this post I'll share some tips and techniques for buying organic meat that won't break the bank.
Here are some tips to help you find low-cost organic meats. Also, how much per pound they cost. You'll learn how to get the best from what you buy.
For healthy eating, you don’t have to spend a lot. Sometimes, you have to use your creativity to save money while still eating well. Here are my suggestions for ways to cut food costs while still enjoying the benefits of organic meat.
- Buy at wholesale clubs - Costco and Sams Club are great places to shop for bulk foods like chicken breasts and pork chops. If you're lucky enough to live near one of these stores, you can often get deals on large quantities of meat (up to 50 pounds). This way, you won't waste any meat. Also, if you buy in bulk, it can be frozen so it lasts for longer.
- Look online to save money on meat. For example, Amazon has a weekly deal called Prime Pantry, which includes free shipping on orders over $35. There are also discounts on lamb steaks (lamb steaks), ground beef, pork loins, and beef roasts. You can easily browse their website to see what is available at different times.
- Look for a local farmer. They usually charge less than big-box retailers, as they don't have to pay large stocking fees. Local farmers also know exactly what their animals have eaten and drank so they can determine what's in their bodies.
- Look out for cuts that are the leanest. It's generally less expensive to cook lean meat than fatty. Therefore, choose the leanest cuts. The most commonly used cuts include flank steak, tenderloin and top round steaks. These cuts are high in protein and low in fat.
- Try new recipes - Don't be afraid to try new things! It's possible to reduce grocery expenses by cooking new recipes using ingredients you've never tried before. You may be amazed at the variety of delicious dishes that you can make with fresh tomatoes, onions garlic, olive oil and spices.
- Use leftovers to create new recipes. It's easy to make quick lunches and dinners with leftover meat.
