Frequently Asked Questions

Is organic produce healthy?

There are two types: foods that we grow and those that we purchase from others. There are exceptions, but the majority of the time, both options will be available. Organic food is healthier as it doesn't contain any harmful chemicals or pesticides, herbicides and preservatives.

You can find organic foods in supermarkets across North America. Organic food is now available in most grocery stores, making it easier to find organic foods.

Organic food tastes better and is more nutritious, as it has higher levels of vitamins and minerals. Organics are grown without using pesticides and fertilizers. They also don't pollute soil or water.

The USDA regulates organic farming practices and requires farmers to follow strict guidelines to ensure that organic produce is safe to eat. There are currently more than 30,000,000 acres of US farmland which have been designated organic.

Organic food is often cheaper than traditional food. Customers pay less for the same amount in calories, protein and nutrients. Organic farms can charge lower prices for their crops since they aren't required to pay for expensive chemical inputs such as insecticides or fungicides.

According to the Environmental Working Group Organic food is actually 10 percent more expensive per pound than conventionally grown food. Switching to organic food is a smart move if you care about your health and that of your family.

Organic food has become an increasingly popular alternative to American standard diets. Although many may think that organic food is only available at specialty markets and gourmet restaurants, this isn't true. Organic food is easily available in all regular grocery stores in the United States.

In recent years organic food sales increased substantially. The US market value of organic foods was $43Billion in 2012, up from $21B in 2007.

Which are the best organic vegetables?

Organic vegetables are the highest quality and healthiest food source. They are the healthiest of all foods.

Organic produce is free from pesticides and herbicides. These chemicals can be dangerous to our environment as well as our health.

Organic produce also contains more nutrients, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, phytonutrients, enzymes, fibre, and essential fatty acids. This makes them more healthy because organic produce absorbs nutrients better.

Not only do organic vegetables taste delicious, but they are also safe to eat. Consuming organic produce has no known side effects.

Any grocery store can sell organic fruits and vegetables. Organic fruits and veggies can be purchased at any grocery store provided they comply with USDA guidelines.

What is the difference between organic and inorganic foods?

Organic food is produced without pesticides, chemical fertilizers, sewage sludge, irradiation, or genetic modification. Organic farming practices are good for soil health, water quality, animal welfare, and the environment.

Inorganic food is grown with pesticides and chemical fertilizers. Irradiated foods are treated with radiation; genetically modified organisms (GMO) are created through biological engineering techniques.

The term "natural" is often used interchangeably with "organic." Natural does not necessarily have to mean organic. There are also products labelled "natural" which may contain synthetic ingredients.

Organic produce is typically more nutritious than conventional produce because the soil contains fewer harmful chemicals and pesticides. Organic farmers also don't use synthetic fertilizers or hormones, pesticides, or antibiotics.

How To

Is there anything negative about buying organic products?

Organic food has many benefits. However, there are also some drawbacks. These include higher consumer costs, lower quality standards and fewer options.

There is nothing wrong with wanting more variety in groceries. We have been trained to expect inferior food that tastes bad. That's why you'll find most grocery stores stocked with identical prepackaged products.

Organic food is becoming more popular today because it provides better nutrition and great tasting food. How do you convince people to spend a little more for organic food?

You could also tell them organic food is more expensive. This doesn't necessarily mean organic food tastes better. It could even make them suspicious of you motives.

Instead, highlight its strengths. Organic food has more nutrients, and is free of pesticides and other antibiotics. Organic food is also grown without the use of synthetic fertilizers or herbicides. This makes it healthier for our bodies and the environment.

Many people avoid organic food because they assume it's too expensive. If they take into account the health benefits, however, they might decide that spending a few extra dollars per week is worthwhile.

Organic food tastes better as it's manufactured under strict guidelines that avoid contamination. It tends also to retain more vitamins and minerals.

Organic food is also better for you because it's picked later. This makes the food more fresh and easier to digest.

Finally, organic food is generally cheaper because farmers grow it organically, which requires less labour and fertilizer.
