If you are looking to limit your exposure to pesticides, consider focusing on the Environmental Working Group’s annual “Dirty Dozen” list of fruits and vegetables that should be purchased organically and avoiding conventional varieties. Other good options include kale, blueberries, spinach, avocado and tomatoes. Adding these to your diet can help protect against cognitive decline and boost overall brain function.
2. Reduced Pesticide Residues
In order to function well, our brains require a lot of energy and produce a significant amount of free radicals during this process. If free radicals aren’t dealt with properly they can damage the neurons in our brains and result in neurodegeneration. This is probably due to the general ethos of those who choose to eat an organic diet and their preference for whole foods over processed/ultra-processed. However, more studies need to be done with a larger group of people and longer term follow-up to see the full benefits of eating an organic diet.
3. Increased Omega-3 Fatty Acids
Long-chain omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA), found mainly in oily fish, are concentrated in neuronal membranes and can affect cognitive function. The dietary intake of omega-3 PUFAs has been linked to improved mental health and cognitive performance in healthy individuals.
Researchers have shown that people who consume more Omega-3 PUFAs have larger hippocampal volumes, which play a role in learning and memory. Omega-3 PUFAs can also reduce aging of the brain and reduce the risk of dementia.

In addition, it has been linked to a variety of psychiatric symptoms, such as anxiety and depression.

Organic farming methods promote soil health and natural ecosystems, which reduces the amount of pesticide toxins that are transferred to you through your diet. This helps prevent a wide range of illnesses and disorders including cancers, digestive dysfunctions, ADHD and autism, headaches, allergies, birth defects and weakened immune systems.

Here are some tips to help you find low-cost organic meats. Also, how much per pound they cost. You will learn how to make the best out of what you purchase.
Healthy eating doesn't require you to spend a lot. Sometimes, it takes a bit of creativity to save money while eating well. Here are my suggestions for ways to cut food costs while still enjoying the benefits of organic meat.
- Shop at wholesale clubs - Sams Club or Costco are great places to buy bulk foods such as chicken breasts and pork chops. You can often find deals on large quantities (up to 50 pounds) if you live close to one of these stores. This ensures that meat is not wasted. If you buy it in bulk you can freeze it so it lasts more.
- Online shopping is a great way to find meat at a discounted price. Amazon offers Prime Pantry, a weekly deal with free shipping on orders above $35. They offer discounts for beef roasts and ground beef as well as lamb steaks, lamb steaks, pork loins, and other items. You can browse their website and view what's on sale at different times.
- Look for a local farmer. They usually charge less than big-box retailers, as they don't have to pay large stocking fees. They also know what their animals ate and drink so they can tell exactly what is inside.
