Organic food is the fastest-growing industry today. There is still much to be done, even though we have come so far from our roots.

Organic products are the future. They are safer, healthier for the environment, and easier to afford for consumers.

However, they are also more expensive. That's why we created the Organic Food Index. We wanted to know which foods are popular today and whether trends are changing.

The results showed that organic food is increasing in popularity. The number of Americans shopping for organic food grew by nearly 50% between 2011 and 2012.

The USDA reported that organic production rose by 10% in the last year. Organic food now makes up 9% U.S. agriculture output.

Although organic food is gaining popularity, it appears that consumers still have to pay a premium for it. The average retail price for organic food is almost twice that of conventional foods, according to the Organic Trade Association (OTA).

Despite this, organic food is growing at a faster rate than any other food segment. You can see that organic food has been steadily increasing since 2009.

According to OTA however, the volume in supermarkets of organic products grew by 14% from 2010 to 2011.

This is because of consumer demand for healthier products, which explains the rise in organic food sales across all age categories.

Younger generations are choosing organic food more often than older generations. Millennials are twice more likely to purchase organic food than baby boomers. Young adults aged below 35 account for 25%.


What should I look out for when buying organic products?

USDA-certified organic labels are desirable. This guarantees that the product meets certain USDA standards. On all packages, boxes and cartons, look for the USDA Organic seal.

When shopping for meat ensure it comes only from cows that are fed 100% organic feed. Cattle are ruminants. This means they chew the cud. Ruminant cattle can be found with four stomach compartments: the rumen, the reticulum, omasum, abomasum and omasum. If the cow is to be labeled "100% organic", all of its parts must have been organically fed.

Buy chicken from only organic chickens that have been fed 100% organic food and are not given antibiotics. Chickens can eat both animal and plant food. A digestive tract that is omnivorous includes a crop, proventriculus and gizzard. It also contains small intestines, large intestines, and anus.

Buy dairy products that are 100% organically produced. Dairy cows have four stomach compartments, just like ruminants. The fourth stomach, or the udder is where you get milk.

You should always check the label before purchasing any other livestock. This will let you know what percentage of the diet was given to the animals. One example is pork that may be labeled '95% Organic'. This means that 95 percent came from organic sources.


What is organic meat?

Organic meat refers to real food grown without the use artificial fertilizers, pesticides, or hormones. This also means that animals weren't given any genetically modified feed. It is safe to eat because it doesn't contain any harmful chemicals.

This post will share some tips and tricks to help you buy organic meat without breaking the bank.

Here are my tips for finding cheap organic meats. I'll also tell you how much each pound costs. This will teach you how to get the most out of your purchase.

It doesn't take a lot to eat healthy. Sometimes, it takes a bit of creativity to save money while eating well. Here's my list of ways to keep your food costs down while enjoying organic meat's benefits.

  1. Buy bulk food at wholesale clubs. Sams Club and Costco both offer great options for buying bulk foods like pork chops and chicken breasts. You can often find deals on large quantities (up to 50 pounds) if you live close to one of these stores. This will ensure that you don't waste any meat. It's also possible to freeze meat purchased in bulk so that it lasts longer.
  2. You can shop online for meat at great prices. Amazon offers Prime Pantry, a weekly deal with free shipping on orders above $35. They offer discounts for beef roasts and ground beef as well as lamb steaks, lamb steaks, pork loins, and other items. It is easy to browse their website and check out what is on offer at different times.
  3. Locate a farmer in your area. Local farmers are usually cheaper than big box retailers as they don’t pay high stocking fees. Local farmers also know exactly what their animals have eaten and drank so they can determine what's in their bodies.
