Why is organic produce important?

Our health is dependent on organic produce. It is the best option to ensure that we eat nutritious food. It's healthier for us as well as more environmentally-friendly because it doesn’t rely on pesticides, fertilizers, or other chemicals.

What are organic products that can be used on the skin?

Organic skincare products do not contain synthetic chemicals like parabens,phthalates, mineral oils, petroleum jelly or petrolatum.

Organic skincare products can be free of artificial colours and fragrances as well as preservatives, emulsifiers GMOs, Petrochemicals, animal testing (except for cosmetics tested on animals), pesticides hormones, antibiotics, heavy metallics and other contaminants.

They are designed to promote healthy skin, prevent premature wrinkles, heal injuries after they happen, and support overall wellbeing.

These are some standard terms you might come across when shopping for organic items:

  • Paraben Free: These are chemicals that keep certain cosmetic products stable. However, they can be toxic if used in large quantities.
  • Fragrance-Free means that the product doesn't contain any essential oils or fragrances.
  • Cruelty Free - No animals were injured during the manufacturing process.
  • Natural Ingredients - The ingredient is derived naturally from the animal or plant.
  • Vegan/Vegetarian - the ingredients are either vegan or vegetarian.
  • Gluten-Free - this means that gluten was removed from the formulation.
  • Non-Toxic: The product does not contain toxic substances, carcinogens or any other harmful compounds that could cause harm to your health.
  • Biodegradable - The product will eventually be broken down into harmless parts when it is disposed of.
  • Pesticide Free - No pesticides were used during the growing or harvesting processes.
  • GMO-Free - this means that none of the ingredients in the product contains genetically modified organisms.
  • Certified Organic refers to ingredients that were grown using methods that protect soil, water, air, wildlife and farmers.


Are organic foods healthy?

There are two types. Those we grow or those we get from someone else. While there are exceptions, the general answer is yes to both. Organic food is healthier since it doesn't include any harmful chemicals.

In supermarkets all over North America, Europe Asia, Latin America, Latin America, and Africa, you can find organic food. Organic food can now be found in many grocery stores making it easier for shoppers to choose organic products.

Organic food has higher levels vitamins, minerals and antioxidants which makes it more delicious and nutritious. Organics can be grown without pesticides or synthetic fertilizers. This ensures that organics do not pollute our soil or water supply.

The USDA regulates organic farming practices and requires farmers to follow strict guidelines to ensure that organic produce is safe to eat. There are currently over 30 million acres of US farmland certified as organic.

The sales of organic food have increased dramatically in recent years. The US market value of organic foods was $43Billion in 2012, up from $21B in 2007.


Are organic foods healthier?

The Environmental Working Group's most recent report on pesticide residues found in food shows that organic fruits and veggies had almost half the pesticide content of non-organic. They found that organic apples contained eight times fewer pesticides than non-organic apples, while organic strawberries were four times cleaner than their conventional counterparts.

Another study suggests that organic food can reduce exposure to toxic metals such as lead and mercury. One study found that organic meats had 33 percent less lead in children than the levels of those who did not eat them. A second study found that conventional fish should be avoided by pregnant women due to the high levels of mercury.

Organic food is generally safer than non-organic. Experts recommend that you choose fresh fruits and vegetables whenever possible to lower your chance of developing cancer or other diseases.


Why should organic be my first choice?

Choose fresh meats over frozen or canned ones. Canned and frozen foods can often have lower nutritional content like high fructose syrup.

Vegetables and fruits labeled as "100% organic" fulfill all of the requirements. However, some farms won't claim that their products are 100% organic. This would confuse the consumers. They will instead label their product "made with organic ingredients." "
