Ultimately, consumers make decisions about what they will eat based on their own ethical values and perceptions of the world around them. However, our findings suggest that providing additional information about the healthiness, environmental impact and animal welfare standards of organic meat may increase consumer willingness to pay for these products.

A nonprofit, Humane Farm Animal Care, operates the Certified Humane label and sets welfare standards for each species (for example, no cages for chickens or turkeys).
