Frequently Asked Questions
What should I look out for when buying organic products?
USDA-certified organic label are desirable. This certification means that the product is certified organic by USDA. Look for the "USDA Organic" seal on packages, boxes, cartons, cans, and jars.
When shopping for meat ensure it comes only from cows that are fed 100% organic feed. Ruminants are cattle that chew their cud. Ruminant cattle are divided into four stomach compartments, the rumen and reticulum as well as the omasum and abmasum. All parts of an animal must be organically fed if the cow is going to be labelled '100% organic.'
When buying chicken, make sure it comes only from chickens fed 100% organic feed and never given antibiotics. Chickens are omnivores, meaning they eat both plants and animals. Omnivorous chickens possess a digestive tract made up of a crop.
You should ensure you only buy dairy products made from milk that has been produced by cows who have been fed 100% organically grown food. Dairy cows have four stomach compartments, just like ruminants. The fourth stomach compartment--the cow's udder--is where milk is produced.
To find out the percent of the feed the animals received when you purchase other types livestock, be sure to read the labels. For example, pork may be labelled '95% organic.' This means 95 percent of the pig's feed came from organic sources.

What are organic foods?
Organic produce is free from synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, sewage sludge and confinement feeding. No growth hormones are used. Animal testing is also not done. These crops can naturally grow, so no chemicals are used by farmers to combat pests or weeds.
Organic farming practices also maintain soil quality by reducing erosion and conserving water resources. Organic foods are healthier than conventional foods because they have more nutrients. Organic products are typically higher in fiber and lower in fat and calories than conventionally produced ones.
Are organic meats better?
You probably know the answer if you have been paying attention for a while. Here's the problem: Organic food is becoming more sought-after, while traditional food continues to decline in popularity.
Organic foods continue rising in popularity because they are healthier. Organic products are healthier for us and the environment.
But there are two sides to this coin. Organic produce takes longer to grow and requires more resources to do so. Organic food is more expensive than non-organic.
Organic meats are generally more expensive than conventionally raised animals. However, it is possible to reduce costs without compromising on quality.
Buy local to save money. Locally grown fruits and veggies help to lower prices because farmers get incentives to grow good crops.
A great way to save money is to search for deals. There are often discounts offered when purchasing organics.
Consuming less meat is another way to save cash. Due to the cost of raising livestock, meat production can be expensive.
Organic food is healthier for the planet and our bodies than conventional food, but it's important to not overlook its cost.
What are the health benefits of organic farming
Organic farming provides farmers with a way of producing food without using chemicals. Farmers don't have worry about whether harmful pesticides are affecting their crops or animals.
Organic farming can also use natural fertilizers. These fertilizers are good for plants that are healthy and reduce chemical waste.
Organic farming is also environmentally friendly. To recycle nutrients back into soil, farmers often resort to composting. This reduces the risk of pollution and helps conserve precious resources.
Organic farming improves crop yields while also helping the environment. This is because there is much less water used during the growing season.
Organic farming methods can also result in higher prices for farmers' produce. Consumers who are more aware about the dangers associated with pesticides, chemical fertilizers, and other chemicals will choose healthier foods.
This drives up the demand for organic products. Organic farming is gaining popularity because of these reasons.
Is organic food good for you?
There are two types. One is those that we grow ourselves, and the other is those that we buy from someone else. Of course, there are exceptions to both categories, but for the most part, the answer to your question is yes. Organic food is healthier since it doesn't include any harmful chemicals.
You can find organic food in supermarkets across North America, Europe, Asia, Latin America, and Africa. Most grocery stores now carry organic food, making it easier for consumers to choose organic products.
Organic food is also better tasting and more nutritious because it contains higher levels of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Organics are also grown without the use of pesticides or synthetic fertilizers, so they don't pollute our soils and water supplies.
The USDA regulates organic farming practices. It requires that farmers follow strict guidelines in order to ensure organic produce is safe for consumption. There are currently more than 30,000,000 acres of US farmland which have been designated organic.
As an added benefit, organic food is often much cheaper than conventional food. Organic food is often cheaper than conventional food because it contains the same amount calories, protein, as well as nutrients. Organic farms can charge lower prices for their crops since they aren't required to pay for expensive chemical inputs such as insecticides or fungicides.
According to the Environmental Working Group (EWG), organic food actually costs 10% less per pound. Switching to organic food is a smart move if you care about your health and that of your family.
Organic food is becoming a popular option to the standard American diet. Organic food is not only available in gourmet restaurants and specialty markets, as many people may believe. Organic food is readily available at regular grocery stores all across the United States.
Organic food sales have increased significantly in recent years. In the US, organic food sales reached $43Billion in 2012, an increase of $21Billion in 2007.

No artificial colourings, flavour enhancers, preservatives, or colourings must be used in the food. It must not contain genetically altered organisms (GMOs).

There are many reasons why consumers choose organic products. Organic products are preferred by many people for their taste and health. Some also prefer organic produce because of the higher quality. Others believe that organic farming is more sustainable. There are ethical concerns regarding farm workers and animals. This is why some people choose organic products.

One factor is whether there are enough land available for organic farming. Another factor is the price of inputs as well as labour for organic farming. Other factors include transportation costs, marketing costs, and taxes. In Europe, for instance, the average price for organic food in Europe is 10% higher than its regular price.
