Nuts pack a punch of nutrients and are a great source of heart-healthy fats, protein, vitamins and minerals. Choose organic nuts to limit your exposure to pesticides, and make sure you're eating the right ones for your health needs.
Even peanuts (actually legumes) are good for you if eaten in moderation, because they help reduce type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome risk factors.
1. Rich in Nutrients
Nuts are a rich source of protein, healthy fats, fibre and essential vitamins and minerals. They also help regulate blood sugar levels, and can protect against heart disease and diabetes.
It’s recommended that you consume 30 grams of nuts a day as part of a balanced diet. Choosing organic nuts can ensure you’re getting these nutrients without the added pesticides.
Nuts are high in arginine, which the body uses to make nitric oxide and improve circulation. They are also a good source of vitamin E, magnesium, folic acid and potassium. Plus, they are a great source of plant sterols which can help lower cholesterol.
2. Low in Calories
Nuts can be high in calories, but the good news is they’re also rich in nutrients and protein, which can help you feel full and suppress your appetite. Just be careful of adding extra salt or sugar and over-indulging in too many nuts.
A handful (about 40 to 50 nuts) can be a great snack to help you get through the day and stay satisfied and healthy. You can choose raw or dry-roasted nuts, or try some glazed nuts that are sweetened with natural ingredients.
Organic nuts are grown and processed without added chemical pesticides and herbicides, and are healthier for the local ecosystem and workers. Plus, they’re delicious! * Independence Blue Cross members get six free nutrition counseling sessions a year. Find a registered dietitian near you using our online provider directory.
3. Rich in Natural Colors
Nuts are a great source of vitamins and minerals. They help combat arthiritis, increase brain power and are rich in antioxidants. They also contribute to lower cholesterol levels and visceral adiposity, and improve blood pressure.
They are a good source of vitamin E and can reduce the risk of cancer, cardiovascular diseases and age-related cognitive decline. They are also a great source of folate and B vitamins, which boost haemoglobin levels in the blood and prevent anaemia.
It is recommended to include nuts in your diet on a regular basis. However, it is important to make sure that you choose organic ones as these have a better nutritional value. Organic nuts are also tastier and healthier than their conventional counterparts. In addition, they are grown without pesticides, which is beneficial for the environment as well.
4. Great Source of Heart-Healthy Unsaturated Fats
Nuts are high in protein, healthy fats and fiber, which makes them a good snack or a filling addition to a meal. Studies have shown that nuts lower total and "bad" cholesterol and triglycerides and boost levels of "good" HDL cholesterol.
Nut consumption has also been linked to improved blood sugar control and a reduced risk of metabolic syndrome, a cluster of conditions that includes type 2 diabetes. [1]
Organic nuts are grown without the use of chemicals, which means that the soil and the plants are spared from chemical exposure. This is better for the environment, as well as for the farmers and workers who cultivate them. The best quality organic nuts are a healthier choice for you, the environment and the local farmers.
5. Great Source of Minerals
Nuts are super-nutritious snacks that provide plant-based protein, healthy fats and a slew of vitamins and minerals. In addition, they are a natural source of fiber and can enhance your well-being and promote vibrant health.
Each nut variety has its own unique nutritional profile. However, all nuts contain potassium, which helps maintain a proper balance of cellular fluids and acts as a vasodilator to further lower blood pressure. They also provide iron, which alleviates symptoms of anemia, and copper.
Buying organic nuts can help eliminate exposure to harmful pesticides and chemicals. Organic farmers work with nature and encourage healthy ecosystems that naturally prevent weeds and pests without the need for synthetic chemical applications. Plus, you’ll get the same delicious taste and nutrition with a more environmentally friendly product.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is organic meat more nutritious?
You probably know the answer if you have been paying attention for a while. The problem is that organic food is increasingly popular, but conventional food continues its decline.
The reason why organic foods continue to rise in popularity is that they are healthier for us. Organic foods are safer for our bodies and help to reduce pollution.
However, there are also two sides to this coin. Organic produce takes longer to grow, and it requires more resources. Organic food is more expensive than non-organic.
Organic meats will typically be more expensive than those that are raised in conventional conditions. However, it is possible to reduce costs without compromising on quality.
Local purchases can help you save money. Buy locally grown vegetables and fruits to help keep prices low. Farmers receive incentives to grow healthier crops.
Deals are another way to cut costs. Organics often come with discounts.
A third way to save money on meat consumption is to eat less. Because of the amount of feed required to raise livestock, meat production can become expensive.
There are many reasons why organic food is better for our bodies and the planet, but we should be careful not to overlook the cost.
What are the best organic vegetables for you?
Organic vegetables provide the most healthy and nutritious food for people. They are the best food on earth.
Organic produce is organically grown without pesticides. These chemicals pose severe risks to our health and environment.
Organic produce contains more nutrients, vitamins and minerals. This makes them more healthy because organic produce absorbs nutrients better.
Not only do organic vegetables taste delicious, but they are also safe to eat. There are no known side effects associated with consuming organic produce.
All grocery stores can carry organic produce. Organic fruits and veggies can be purchased at any grocery store provided they comply with USDA guidelines.
Why should I go organic?
The health risks of conventional agriculture include asthma, allergies and diabetes. When buying food, you must make wise choices.
The Environmental Working Group (EWG) offers the following tips on how to pick "cleaner" food:
As much as possible, purchase organic fruits or vegetables
USDA organic labels can be found on meat, poultry (eggs, eggs), milk, cheese and yogurt as well.
Avoid processed foods that claim to be "natural" and "no additives."
Carefully review ingredient lists. If an ingredient is not listed, it can be added during processing.
You should choose fresh meats rather than frozen or canned. Many frozen and canned foods contain less nutrients, like high fructose Corn Syrup.
What is the difference in organic and non-organic foods?
Organic food is made without chemical fertilizers or pesticides. Organic farming practices improve soil health and water quality as well as animal welfare.
Inorganic foods are grown with pesticides, chemical fertilizers, and sewage sludge. Radiation is used to treat irradiated food; biological engineering techniques are used to create genetically modified organisms (GMO).
Sometimes, the term "natural", is used interchangeably with "organic." Natural does not necessarily have to mean organic. You may also find products that are labeled as "natural", which could contain synthetic ingredients.
Organic produce is more nutritious than traditional produce due to the fact that it contains less harmful chemicals and pesticides. Organic farmers don't use any artificial fertilizers, hormones or antibiotics.
What is an organic food producer?
Organic food producers grow organic products without the use of pesticides or chemical fertilizers. These foods include fruits, vegetables, grains, and dairy products.
Organic food production takes place on farms where crops are nurtured naturally. This includes soil preparation and pest control as well as crop rotation.
The USDA (United States Department of Agriculture), must set strict criteria for organic agricultural products.
These guidelines are designed to ensure consumers have access to safe, healthy and nutritious food.
Organic foods offer many health benefits. They are free from heavy metal contamination and pesticide residues. They also have higher nutritional content and better taste.
USDA Certified Organic products must be labeled with the seal "USDA certified organic".
This certification means that the product meets the standards laid down by the National Organic Program.
Organic food is not only healthier for us, but also protects our environment.
Organic farming methods preserve natural resources, such as water or land. Organic farming techniques also help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions which contributes to climate change.

How To
How to buy organic meat even on a tight budget
In this post I'll share some tips and techniques for buying organic meat that won't break the bank.
I'll give you some tips about where to find organic meats at a low price and how much it costs per pound. This will teach you how to get the most out of your purchase.
It doesn't take a lot to eat healthy. Sometimes it takes creativity to save money and eat well. Here are my suggestions for ways to cut food costs while still enjoying the benefits of organic meat.
- Shop at wholesale clubs - Sams Club or Costco are great places to buy bulk foods such as chicken breasts and pork chops. These stores often offer discounts on large quantities of meat, up to 50 pounds, if you are lucky enough to be near one. This way, you won't waste any meat. You can also freeze the meat if you buy it bulk.
- Look online to save money on meat. Amazon, for example, offers Prime Pantry, a weekly deal that includes free shipping on orders greater than $35 They offer discounts on beef roasts, ground beef, lamb steaks, and pork loins. It's simple to visit their website to view the latest offerings at different times.
- Local farmers will usually be cheaper than big-box retailers since they don't pay large fees to stock their shelves. They know exactly what the animals ate and drank to ensure they are fully informed about what is in their bodies.
- Choose lean cuts of meat - It is usually cheaper to cook lean meat than fatty. So, look for the leanest cuts. The most commonly used cuts include flank steak, tenderloin and top round steaks. These cuts are very low in fat and high in protein.
- Try new recipes. You can cut down on your grocery costs by starting to cook with ingredients you don't have before. You may be amazed at the variety of delicious dishes that you can make with fresh tomatoes, onions garlic, olive oil and spices.
- Be creative with leftovers - If you have leftover cooked meat or poultry, use them for sandwiches, salads, soups, casseroles, etc. For quick lunches, leftover meat can be used to make dinners.
That's it! Here are some tips on how you can afford organic meat despite being on a strict budget. Do you have any other tips? Have any other tips for me about where to buy cheap meat?
