Frequently Asked Questions

What are organic products that can be used on the skin?

Organic skincare products don't contain any synthetic chemicals such as parabens or phthalates.

Organic skincare products do not contain artificial colours, fragrances or preservatives.

They also have the ability to support healthy skin, prevent premature ageing, promote healing after injuries and overall well-being.

Some standard terms you may see when shopping for organic products:

  • Paraben Free – These chemicals are used to preserve certain cosmetic products, but can cause serious health problems if taken in large amounts.
  • Fragrance-Free - the product does not have added fragrance or essential oils.
  • Cruelty Free - No animals were injured during the manufacturing process.
  • Natural Ingredients - The ingredient is derived naturally from the animal or plant.
  • Vegan/Vegetarian – The ingredients can either be vegetarian or vegan.
  • Gluten-Free: This is when gluten was eliminated from the formulation.
  • Non-Toxic-The product doesn't contain any toxic chemicals, carcinogens, and/or other harmful substances that could be harmful to your health.
  • Biodegradable product - when thrown out, the product will disintegrate into harmless components.
  • Pesticide Free – There were no pesticides used during the harvesting or growing process.
  • GMO-Free means that no ingredient in the product contains genetically modified organisms.
  • Certified Organic is a certification that the ingredients of the recipe were grown using sustainable methods.

What are the things to look for when purchasing organic products?

USDA-certified organic labels should be sought. This certifies that the product has met certain standards set by USDA. Look out for the USDA Organic seal on boxes, cartons cans and jars.

When purchasing meat, ensure it is 100% organic. Cattle are ruminants. They eat the whole animal. Ruminant cattle are divided into four stomach compartments, the rumen and reticulum as well as the omasum and abmasum. All parts of an animal must be organically fed if the cow is going to be labelled '100% organic.'

You should only purchase chicken that has been raised organically. It must not have ever been treated with antibiotics. Omnivore chickens eat both animals and plants. Omnivorous chickens have a digestive system that includes a crop (proventriculus), gizzard and small intestine.

It is important to ensure that dairy products are from cows that were fed 100% organic feed. Like ruminants and dairy cows, they have four stomach compartments. Milk comes from the fourth stomach compartment--the udder.

When purchasing other types of livestock, check the label to see what percentage of the diet the animals were fed. For example, pork may be marked "95% organic" to indicate that 95 percent of the pork's feed is organic.

Why should you buy organic?

There have been many health problems linked to conventional farming, including allergies, asthma, diabetes, obesity, cancer, birth defects and hormone imbalances. Healthy choices must be made when purchasing food.

The Environmental Working Group has the following tips for choosing "cleaner" food.

Always buy organic fruits & vegetables.

USDA organic labels should be used on meat, poultry and eggs as well as milk, cheese, yogurt, butter, honey, and other dairy products.

Avoid processed foods labelled "natural"/ "no additives."

Carefully review ingredient lists. If an ingredient doesn't appear on the list, it could be added to the product during processing.

Choose fresh meats over frozen or canned ones. Many frozen and canned foods contain less nutrients, like high fructose Corn Syrup.

Why is organic food so important?

For our health, organic produce is crucial. Organic produce is the best way to eat healthy foods. Not only is it better for us, but it's also more environmentally friendly because it doesn't rely on pesticides and fertilizers.

Organic farming uses natural methods of cultivating crops that are free from harmful chemicals. This makes organic farming safer for both humans and animals. Organic food is a way to help the environment and protect yourself.

The health benefits of organic foods go well beyond our bodies. We are all well aware of how harmful processed food can make our bodies feel. You might not know this, but organic fruits and vegetables don't have to be treated with chemicals. That means that they taste fresher, look brighter and last longer too.

This is why organic food is so important. Because organic is healthier for you as well as for the world.

How To

Are there any negatives to buying organic goods?

Organic food has many benefits. There are some downsides to organic food. These include higher consumer prices, lower quality standards, and fewer choices.

It is okay to want more variety when shopping for groceries. However, we have been taught to expect poor quality food. That's why you'll find most grocery stores stocked with identical prepackaged products.

Organic food is becoming more and more popular due to its superior nutrition and delicious taste. How do you convince people that it is worth the extra effort?

Well, you could tell them that organic food costs more. This doesn't necessarily mean organic food tastes better. It may even make them question your motives.

Instead, it would be best if you highlighted its advantages. Organic food is more nutritious, has fewer pesticides, and uses fewer antibiotics. It's also grown without synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, so it's better for the environment and us.

Many people don't want to eat organic food because it is too expensive. They may find that spending just a few dollars per Week is worthwhile if they consider the health benefits.

Organic food tastes better because it is produced according to strict guidelines. Organic food tends to have more vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and other nutrients.

Organic food is also tastier because it's picked later in the season. This makes organic food fresher and easier for you to digest.

Finally, organic food is generally cheaper because farmers grow it organically, which requires less labour and fertilizer.
