Frequently Asked Questions

What are organic fruits and vegetables?

Organic foods are free of pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. Organic foods contain more nutrients like vitamins A, C and E, as well as omega-3 fatty oils. Organic food is better for the earth and our bodies because of these healthy ingredients.

Organic foods are grown with sustainable agricultural practices that help to preserve soil quality, and increase biological diversity. They are free of toxic chemicals, irradiation and sewage effluent.

Many organic products are not associated with produce. They include dairy and meat, poultry, eggs baked goods, pet food, household cleaning supplies, and personal care products.

According to the USDA, "organic" means that crops are raised in compliance with federal standards. To grow these foods, farmers cannot use non-organic (or conventional) methods. However, they may use approved natural pest control methods, such as crop rotation and cover cropping, and animal feed made from organic materials.

Additionally, the farmer must adhere to guidelines concerning the amount of fertilizer and pesticide that he uses during the growing seasons and how he rotates his fields among various crops. GMOs, artificial growthhormones, synthetic insecticides, and synthetic fertilizers cannot be used by farmers.

All the above requirements are met by vegetables and fruits that are labeled "100% Organic". But, not all farms label their produce as 100% organic. It would confuse consumers. Instead, they will label the product as "made from organic ingredients". "

What is organic?

Organic meat means real food, grown without artificial fertilizers or pesticides. This also means that animals weren't given any genetically modified feed. This means that the meat is safe for consumption as there aren’t any harmful chemicals.

Organic meats are also healthier for the environment. When we eat organic foods, we reduce the pollution in landfills, rivers, lakes, etc. We also help protect wildlife because organic farmers usually do not use toxic chemicals that kill insects and birds.

You can eat organic meats and produce whenever you can. Local purchasing helps keep money local, not out of the state. Local businesses often pass savings on to customers who shop locally. Shopping locally keeps American jobs in America, rather than sending them abroad.

Are organic foods better for us?

According to the Environmental Working Group, organic vegetables and fruits had half the amount of pesticides as non-organic. The Environmental Working Group found that organic apples contained eight-times less pesticides than other non-organic fruits, and organic strawberries had fourfold more than their conventional counterparts.

Some studies also suggest that eating organic food helps reduce your exposure to toxic metals, such as mercury and lead. For instance, one study showed that children who consumed organic meat had 33% less blood lead levels than children who did not. Another study concluded traditional fish should not be consumed by pregnant women, due to high mercury levels.

Organic food is generally safer than non-organic. Experts recommend that you choose fresh fruits and vegetables whenever possible to lower your chance of developing cancer or other diseases.

What are organic food products?

Organic produce does not contain synthetic fertilizers, pesticides and sewage sludge. It is also grown without irradiation or genetic engineering. No growth hormones or animal testing are done. These crops can naturally grow, so no chemicals are used by farmers to combat pests or weeds.

Organic farming practices preserve soil quality and help conserve water resources. Organics contain more nutrients than regular food and are therefore better for our overall health. Organic foods are often higher in fiber, lower in fat, and less calories than those produced conventionally.

What are natural beauty products?

Organic Beauty Products are natural products that do not contain any synthetic chemicals, including parabens. Phenoxyethanol, phthalates and artificial preservatives. These ingredients are present in all conventional beauty products including shampoos and cosmetics.

Organic beauty products can also be made without animal testing, and they do not contain any genetically altered organisms (GMO).

The USDA defines organic food as "a system which fosters cycle of resources"; it has been used for decades by the USDA to describe foods that are grown without pesticides.

There has been a rise in demand for ecofriendly beauty products over the years due to the negative effects of chemical chemicals on our skin.

These include cancer, allergies and skin irritation.

Organic beauty products are created by companies that care about the environment and create safe, healthy products for customers.

What should I look out for when buying organic products?

USDA-certified organic labels are recommended. This guarantee that the product has met specific standards set forth by USDA. On packages, boxes, cartons or cans, look out for the USDA Organic seal.

When shopping for meat, ensure it comes from cows fed 100% organic feed. Cattle are ruminants which means that they chew the cud. Ruminant cattle have 4 stomach compartments: Rumen, reticulum and omasum. To be labeled '100% organic, all animal parts must be organically nourished.

You should only purchase chicken that has been raised organically. It must not have ever been treated with antibiotics. Omnivore chickens eat both animals and plants. The digestive tract of an omnivorous chicken is composed of a crop and proventriculus, gizzard as well as small intestine, large intestinale, and anus.

Buy only dairy products from cows that have been fed organically grown feed. Just like ruminants, dairy cows also have four stomachs. The fourth stomach compartment, the udder, is where milk comes from.

To find out the percent of the feed the animals received when you purchase other types livestock, be sure to read the labels. For example, pork may be labelled '95% organic.' This means 95 percent of the pig's feed came from organic sources.

What happens to your Body When You Switch To Organic Products?

Organic products are free from synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, hormones, and genetic manipulation. They are derived from clean water and animals that have been free to roam. They are organic because they don't contain any additives or chemicals. This product was naturally produced and contains no harmful chemicals.

The term "natural", refers only to how food was grown. This term is often used to refer to foods that are not processed into final forms (such as fruits). Natural foods are often fresher than others because they haven't been treated with heat, radiation, or chemical preservatives. Some people think natural does not necessarily mean healthy. Experts say that there aren't many differences between organic and conventional food. Both types have been tested for quality and safety. Organic produce is less likely to contain pesticide residues and pollutants than conventionally grown produce.

Most grocery stores now carry organic meats and poultry. Organic meat, poultry or eggs can be found at most local markets. Some companies only sell organic products, while others offer separate sections. USDA Certified Organic is a non-GMO Project Verified company.

If you are pregnant, or nursing, these products should not be eaten. Unborn babies and infants can be affected by pesticides.
