Frequently Asked Questions

What are the top organic products?

Organic food is the fastest-growing industry today. We've come far from our roots but there is still room for improvement.

Organic products will be the future. They are safer, better for our environment, and more affordable for consumers.

They also tend to have higher prices. This is why we created the Organic Food Index. We wanted to see which foods are most in demand today and how these trends are changing.

The results show that organic food is becoming increasingly popular. Between 2011 & 2012, almost half of Americans purchased organic food.

According to USDA, organic food production increased by 10% only last year. The U.S. now produces 9% of its agricultural output from organic food.

Organic food is definitely on the rise, but it still seems expensive for consumers. According to the Organic Trade Association OTA, organic food retail prices are about twice those of conventional products.

That said, organic food is growing faster than any other segment of the food sector. You can see that organic food has been steadily increasing since 2009.

According to OTA's data, organic products sold in supermarkets grew at 14% between 2010 - 2011.

This is due to consumer demand for healthier food, which explains why organic foods sales are rising across all age groups.

Younger generations are also leading the way in organic food choices. Millennials are twice likely to choose organic food than the baby boomers. And young adults under 35 years old account for 25% of all organic food purchases.

What are organic products good for skin?

Organic skincare products contain no synthetic chemicals, including parabens. Phthalates, mineral oil. Petroleum jelly. Propylene glycol. sodium lauryl.sulphate. Talc. triclosan. Titanium dioxide. triethanolamine. vitamin A palmitate.

Organic skincare products do not contain artificial colours, fragrances or preservatives.

They are also formulated to help maintain healthy skin, prevent premature aging, promote healing after injury, and support overall well-being.

The USDA defines organic as "a system that fosters the cycling of resources." It has been used for many decades to describe food products grown without pesticides.

Because of the damaging effects of chemical substances on our health, there has been an increase in demand for eco friendly beauty products.

These include skin irritations, cancer, hormonal imbalance, premature aging, and allergies.

Organic beauty companies believe in creating safe and healthy products while protecting the planet.

Why is organic food so important?

Organic produce is important for our health. It's the best way to ensure we eat nutritious foods. Not only is it better for us, but it's also more environmentally friendly because it doesn't rely on pesticides and fertilizers.

Organic farming uses natural methods of cultivating crops that are free from harmful chemicals. This reduces the risk of environmental pollution, which makes it safer for people and animals. So when you choose organic food, you're helping to protect yourself and the planet.

But organic food offers more than just health benefits. We all know how unhealthy processed foods can make us feel. But did you know that most organic fruits and vegetables aren't treated with chemical spray either? It means that organic fruits and vegetables taste better, last longer, and are brighter.

This is why organic food is so important. It's healthy for you and the planet.

Does organic mean that it is not sprayed with pesticides?

Organic food does not contain pesticides or chemicals and is therefore chemical-free. This means that organic foods are not subject to chemical pesticides or fertilizers.

Because it is free from harmful additives, organic produce has higher nutritional value than conventionally produced food.

The USDA National Organic Program, (NOP), requires farmers to adhere to strict guidelines when cultivating organic crops.

These guidelines include soil preparation, crop rotation, pest control, water conservation, and harvesting practices.

Organic farming methods are also beneficial for wildlife and natural habitats.

What is organic food?

Organic produce is produced without synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. No growth hormones are used. Animal testing is also not done. These crops can grow naturally so that farmers don't have to use pesticides or weed control.

Organic farming methods also help to preserve soil quality, reduce erosion, and conserve water resources. In addition, organics are better for our health because they contain more nutrients than conventional food. Organic products tend to be higher in fiber and lower fat than conventionally produced foods.

Is organic food better for us?

According to the Environmental Working Group's recent report on pesticide residues within foods, organic fruits & vegetables contained nearly half of the pesticides that non-organic varieties. They found that organic apples contained eight times fewer pesticides than non-organic apples, while organic strawberries were four times cleaner than their conventional counterparts.

Research has also suggested that organic food may reduce mercury and lead exposure. One study found that organic meats had 33 percent less lead in children than the levels of those who did not eat them. Another study concluded conventional fish consumption should be stopped by pregnant women because it contains high levels of mercury.

Organic food seems to be safer than the non-organic. Experts recommend eating fresh fruits and veggies whenever possible to reduce the chance of developing cancer.

How To

Organic food: Are they healthier and better for you?

Organic foods are grown without the use chemical pesticides or synthetic fertilisers. They are grown naturally without artificial inputs such pesticides and herbicides. Organic farming methods include crop rotation, cover, composting animal manure and recycling wastewater.

The USDA National Organic Program (NOP) was established in 2002 to regulate the production, handling, processing, labelling, sale, and distribution of organic products sold in the United States. The NOP regulations ensure that organic agricultural products are produced according to federal standards outlined in the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. The NOP regulations also require that organic products are free of prohibited substances such as pesticide residues and genetically modified organisms.

The United States offers two certification programs for producers that want their products to be certified organic: one for farmers, ranchers and the other for manufacturers. Both programs require annual audits of operations to verify compliance with rigorous standards. This service is offered by several certifying agents, such as the CCOF Certified Organic Farmers & Ranchers or Quality Assurance International. The three organizations all provide verification by third parties that farms have followed strict guidelines for environmental stewardship as well as labour practices and the care of livestock.

According to USDA's Economic Research Service in 2013, organic agriculture generated $4.7 billion in revenue. Retail spending on certified organic products reached nearly $1.5 Billion in 2013. This is a 23 per cent increase from 2009. During this time, grocery store sales increased by 12 percent. Direct purchases of organic produce saw a 29 percent increase in spending, while seafood, meat, poultry and eggs experienced a 1 percent growth.

Although organic food can be more expensive than regular food, many consumers feel that its quality is well worth the additional cost. Consumer Reports conducted a 2015 survey and found that 88% would pay more if organic food had better nutritional value. Health Affairs also reported that organic food intake is associated with fewer health problems, such as obesity, diabetes and heart disease.

There is no evidence to suggest eating organic foods can treat or prevent any diseases. However, some studies have suggested that they might be beneficial for your health as they may reduce your exposure of pesticides and contaminants. One example is the conclusion reached by a review of 31 studies, published in 2010, that organically reared beef was significantly less toxic than conventionally-raised beef. Similar conclusions were reached in a separate analysis of 11 other studies published in 2012.

The Environmental Working Group released a report in 2014 that analyzed data from USDA's Agricultural Marketing Resource Center. They found that there was a decrease in foodborne illness due to E.coli, salmonella, listeria moncytogenes or campylobacter. The group also noted that the incidence of human illnesses due to E. coli O157 declined among children and adults after 2006, when the USDA started requiring more stringent organic standards for animals raised for consumption.
