Organic skincare products can be free of artificial colours and fragrances as well as preservatives, emulsifiers GMOs, Petrochemicals, animal testing (except for cosmetics tested on animals), pesticides hormones, antibiotics, heavy metallics and other contaminants.

They also help to preserve healthy skin and prevent premature aging.

These are some standard terms you might come across when shopping for organic items:

  • Paraben Free: These are chemicals that keep certain cosmetic products stable. However, they can be toxic if used in large quantities.

  • Cruelty free - No animals were endangered during the manufacturing process.

What should I look out for when buying organic products?

USDA-certified organic label are desirable. This certification means that the product is certified organic by USDA. On packages, boxes, cartons or cans, look out for the USDA Organic seal.

When shopping for meat, ensure it comes from cows fed 100% organic feed. Cattle are ruminants. This means they chew the cud. Ruminant cattle are divided into four stomach compartments, the rumen and reticulum as well as the omasum and abmasum. All parts of an animal must be organically fed if the cow is going to be labelled '100% organic.'

Chicken should be only purchased from chickens raised on organic feed, and not given antibiotics. Omnivore chickens eat both animals and plants. The digestive tract of an omnivorous chicken is composed of a crop and proventriculus, gizzard as well as small intestine, large intestinale, and anus.

You should ensure you only buy dairy products made from milk that has been produced by cows who have been fed 100% organically grown food. Like ruminants, dairy cattle have four stomachs. The fourth stomach compartment is the udder.

If you are buying other types of livestock, make sure to check the label to determine the percentage of their diet. A label for pork might say "95% organic", which means that 95% of the feed used by the pork came from organic sources.

What is organic meat exactly?

Organic meat is food that has not been treated with pesticides or artificial fertilizers. It also means the animals were not fed any genetically modified foods. It is safe to eat because it doesn't contain any harmful chemicals.

Organic meats are healthier for our environment. Eating organic foods helps reduce pollution in the environment, such as rivers and lakes. We also help protect wildlife because organic farmers usually do not use toxic chemicals that kill insects and birds.

Locally purchasing organic meats is the best way to make sure you are eating healthy and organic meats. Local purchasing helps keep money local, not out of the state. Local businesses often pass down savings to customers when they shop locally. Buy local to save jobs and not send them overseas.

It must not contain any artificial colours, flavour enhancers, flavor enhancers, and preservatives. It cannot contain genetically modified organisms.

The term "organic", as it is commonly known, was first used by Justus von Loig in 1845. He coined the phrase "organisch", which means life-giving, to describe manure's properties. Today, organic is synonymous with food production. Organic is a product that contains only naturally occurring substances, such a proteins, fats, or minerals.

Globally, organic product consumption has increased significantly over the last decade. According to statistics, approximately 50% of the world’s population consumes at minimum one organic product each day. This figure is on the rise and it is predicted to grow to 70%, 88%, and 90% in 2020.

Organic products are preferred for many reasons. Organic produce can be preferred for its taste; others prefer them for being healthier. Some people believe organic farming to be more environmentally friendly. Some consumers choose non-organic products because of ethical concerns about farm workers' and animal treatment.

Organic foods are usually more expensive than conventional ones, although prices vary depending on countries and regions. Organic food prices are affected by many factors. One is the availability and cost of land that can be used for organic agriculture. Another is the cost for inputs and labour required to grow organic crops. The cost of transportation, marketing, and taxes are just a few other factors. In Europe, for example, organic food prices are 10% more than regular food.
