This post will share some tips and tricks to help you buy organic meat without breaking the bank.
You will learn where to buy cheap organic meats, and what they cost per pound. You will learn how to make the best out of what you purchase.
Healthy eating doesn't require you to spend a lot. Sometimes it takes creativity to save money and eat well. Here are my top tips for keeping food costs down and still enjoying the many benefits of organic meat.
- Wholesale clubs - Sams Club, Costco, and Sams Club offer great deals on bulk foods like chicken breasts. These stores often offer discounts on large quantities of meat, up to 50 pounds, if you are lucky enough to be near one. This way, you won't waste any meat. Also, if you buy in bulk, it can be frozen so it lasts for longer.
- Look online to save money on meat. Amazon, for example, offers Prime Pantry, a weekly deal that includes free shipping on orders greater than $35 You can get discounts on ground beef, beef roasts, lamb steaks and pork loins. You can browse their website and view what's on sale at different times.
- Local farmers will usually be cheaper than big-box retailers since they don't pay large fees to stock their shelves. Local farmers also know exactly what their animals have eaten and drank so they can determine what's in their bodies.
- Look out for cuts that are the leanest. It's generally less expensive to cook lean meat than fatty. The leanest cuts are therefore preferred. The most popular cuts are flank steak, sirloin steak and tenderloin roast. These cuts are very low in fat and high in protein.
- Try new recipes - Don't be afraid to try new things! Cooking with new ingredients is one of the best ways to cut your grocery bills. You'll be surprised at how many delicious dishes can you create using fresh tomatoes.
- Remaining meat and poultry can be used for sandwiches, salads or soups. Leftover meat is perfect for making quick lunches or dinners.
So, there you are! These are my top tips for how to get organic meat on a tight budget. Do you have any other tips? Any other suggestions?
