To celebrate National Taco Day I thought that it would be great to share a recipe which highlights the herb for the year, ginger! The ginger flavor gives this recipe its spicy kick, and the toppings reflect a traditional street taco style. This recipe is dairy-free because you don't need any cheese.
Traditional Style Tacos
* 3 tablespoons soy sauce * 1 tablespoon of finely grated Garlic * 1 tablespoon of finely grated fresh ginger * 1 1/2 pounds of skirt steak cut into 5 inch lengths * Salt Pepper * Corn tortillas warm, ready to serve Fresh pineapple diced for serving * Red onion thinly sliced for serving Cilantro leaves for serving
Directions
In a small dish, whisk together the ginger and garlic with the soy sauce. Mixture all over steak, season with salt and pepper. Allow to stand for 20 mins.
Heat up a large skillet made of cast iron. Add the steak to the skillet and cook on high heat. Turn the steak once and cook for 6 minutes, or until the outside is charred and the inside is medium-rare. Transfer the steak to a cutting board and allow it to rest for five minutes. Slice the steak across the grain, and serve it in warm corn tortillas along with diced pineapples, red onions and cilantro.
